Here are the TS meals I've picked:

Cape May Cafe dinner
Yachtsman (2cr) dinner
LeCellier dinner
Liberty Tree dinner
Alfredo's dinner
O'Hana dinner
Cape May Cafe breakfast

I only have 6 TS credits per person. Which meals should I pay for and which should I use my credits for? Should I pay OOP for Yachtsman and use credits for everything else? Or should I pay OOP for the two least expensive fixed price meals (e.g. Cape May breakfast and Cape May dinner)? Does it matter if I pay OOP if I still have some credits left? Help!

Hi Labdogs,

I am not sure of the ages of the persons in your party, but we were 5 with kids ranging from 10-15. My 10 and 12 year olds barely eat and prefer the typical kid food. So we paid OOP for a lot of their meals and wound up with 2 signature meals-one at FF and one at the Yachtsman. We also found that the TS was so much food that we often split meals at non-buffet TS restaurants. So we used 6 TS credits at the Yachtsman and paid for the two kids for kids meals. It was way too much food. I had the Surf and Turf-yummy but the cheese was a little heavy on the beef. DH had another steak cut and my daughter ate some of it too. DS had the lamb, which he loved. We also had 2 shrimp cocktails and a mozzarella appetizer that we all split. For dessert, there was a lot of ice cream which the kids all ate. I think the 6 TS part of the meal came to over $250 so we really felt we got a lot for the credits.

We also used the credits at ALfredo's and did some sharing here. There were some restrictions on the ordering, but again, a lot of food for all of us and I think my two little ones just shared with us this time.

For the rest you are using buffet style meals (WE love Cape May) so you can't do any sharing. I guess I would pay OOP for the breakfast, which is the cheapest of the meals.

Didn't eat at Le Cellier on the plan, but have heard that this is a good choice for using TS credits.

By the way, we just advised the waiter in advance of how we were handling things and how many credits and this worked just fine.

Have fun!

I have never uses the dining plan but plan on it in july and I have decided to use the ts for yachtsman. some of our breakfast like at chef mickeys and 1900 park fare we are paying oop. They would be the cheapest for us. I went to deb's unoffical web site and looked at her menus she has and guessed what we might eat at each resturant did the math and decided to pay oop for breakfast.(even character breakfast)

There are three of us, me, DH, and DS who will be 15 months at the time. It would work out a lot better if he WAS on the dining plan so we could use his credits.

You might consider swapping out the Cape May dinner for something else-maybe Spoodles, which is great. Your little one will enjoy the character breakfast there, but it might be a pain to be getting up and down for the buffet at night. When our kids were little, we found the non-buffet TS to be easier. Still do, maybe I just prefer getting served. But you will get nicer food at some of the other restaurants than in the buffets, IMO.

I would check out the menus at allearsnet.com. Prices are included, and you can get an idea of how much you will be spending on the meals. Yachtsman is 2 credits. If you can eat there for less than 2 other meals combined, then that's the one to pay OOP for.

Not really because you would be paying for his DDP. They raise it to $11(about $70) a night for kids plus you'd have to buy him a 6-day ticket($175). No real saving when you think about it. At buffets he'll get his own plate and you can pay out of pocket for a kid's meal or let him share with you.

I've never tried Yachtsman but we love Concourse steakhouse (CR) and its only 1 TS credit per person. I'd check out Deb's site to see which is your best value.

Good Luck and enjoy!

What were the restrictions at Alfredos? Can you get the pizza appetizer as an appetizer?

We plan to share 2 TS adult meals here (for me, DH, DD14 and DD11).
