How to beat the bloat?

I've been pretty good this week and exercising more, as I realized that my .6 pound loss last week won't have me where I want on the cruise. I need to lose at least 20 more pounds by July 2. So I've done 2 miles 3 times this week at 3.5 MPH. It's hard to fit in more as if I'm not driving the kids hither and yon, I have to worry about them killing each other while I'm in the basement. It's also more fun to watch shows while walking (like American Idol Tuesday).
Anyhow, "that time" is coming in a few days and I seem to be stuck--don't think it's a plateau, just bloat. Should I take Aqua ban and hope for the best, or try to punch up the workouts, or cut my points or my water?

Ahhh the Evil Bloat Fairy known to sabatoge many a weigh in. ::yes:: Maybe other WISHers will be able to help with a remedy but it's been my experience the best thing to do is cut back on your salt and stick to your plan. The only thing that works for me, unfortunately, is time. Then the Whoosh Fairy comes :wizard: (My personal favorite fairy) and you will see the fruits of all your hard work for the past couple of weeks. :)
 
I've found the best weapon is to INCREASE the water!

Really! Maybe someone else can explain the science behind it, but it really does help.

Just drown the blasted Bloat Fairy!
 
All I know to do is cut back on salt and drink drink drink that water...... and wait for time to pass until the whoosh fairy drops by!!!:rolleyes:
 

I agree with the others. The best thing I've found is to cut back on sodium (it's unbelieveable all the things that sodium hides in) and drink water til my eyeballs float!!:teeth:

Sometimes, though, no matter what you do, a couple of extra pounds creeps in. It's frustrating, but temporary! After TOM is over, that dratted bloat fairy departs and the scale goes down again! :D
 
Everyone is right. I almost fainted when I read that you were going to cut down on your water!! YIKES!

Another thing to cut down on is caffeinated drinks like Diet Coke because they have lots of sodium. That's IF you drink them. Meats with nitrates like salami, bacon and hot dogs are full of it, too.

But mowsie's right, there's no fighting it sometimes!
 
Well it worked, I drank and drank and drank yesterday, didn't drink pop and lost 1.4 pounds for the week for a total of 12 so far. I really like water so it wasn't any hardship for me. I hope I remember this strategy next month!

Good job, Robin! Just think, you probably actually lost more than 1.4 pounds because it was TOM and avoiding the Bloat fairy just isn't all that easy.

I'll bet next weeks weigh in is even better!
