OK, now before everyone says don't go, let me say this: My husbad is in Iraq right now and when he comes home he wants to visit the Harry Potter land. Now we are planning to leave Universal on the day HHN begins, but my DH was just told to plan on his tour being extened into october. Now we have to go when he gets home b/c he gets 2wks leave when he returns home, and it will be the only time off he gets for a while.

How do we do Universal and avoid the HHN? Is IOA still open durring the HHN? Will we run into a problem when leaving our Hotel (RPH)? I think I would like to see the entrence, but I can NOT do the event. I suffer from panic attacks and know from previous experiences, haunted houses and I do not mix, unless I work there ( I know weird). Now I can do the tours durring the day and I thought that might be fun, any ideas and suggestions would be really appreciate it!

HHN is only held at night and (at least for the last few years) was only at Universal and had nothing to do with Islands at all. During the day, you can see some of the sets for the scare zones, but without the monsters jumping out at you.

Hope it helps.

The only place you will find anything in regards to HHN (other than billboards) is at the Studios. Only the larger props are let out during the day...no other HHN characters are around. You won't have to deal with it at the hotel. IOA is open until 7pm on HHN nights but again...you won't see anything over there.

If you're staying at the Royal Pacific you don't have to go anywhere near Universal unless you want to. IOA is to the left, Universal is to the right.

Easy. Don't buy a HHN ticket! Without a HHN ticket, you cannot get into the event, which is at night after the park closes. During the day, some props will be out (feel free to take pics of those) and that's it. NONE of the scary stuff even starts until 6p; they close the park to day guests at 5p.

IOA is NOT open during HHN. It will be open until 9a-7p when HHN is scheduled. If you just go to IOA, you'll never see anything HHN related, except for in-park advertising.

If you wanted to go on a tour that would be interesting without being too scary you could go on the Unmasking The Horror tour, or something to that effect. They start the tour in broad daylight, around 2pm or so and take you behind the scenes to show you how they come up with the theme for HHN. Then you go through a couple of the haunted houses while they are lit up and with no scareactors present. The guide will give you details it's nearly impossible to pick up on a normal pass through on HHN. Very interesting, very entertaining and relatively inexpensive. The only problem for you is that they may not be running the tours that early in the season. If you look at the first page of this thread you can see what I'm talking about:
