How tiered is the tired viewing area for WOC

I'm working on planning my first trip to DLR in 15 years...this will be my other family members first trip.

So I've reviewed the WOC Viewing Chart and I have one question.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2501719

He states this:

9) The BEST location in my opinion, is in the Preferred Dining (PD) section on the next to top level about 10-20 feet from the walkway. SECRET: This area is ignored by the early crowd rushing to the front of the lower level,

So is the area in front on this section tiered enough where everyone at the rail can see? Including my 7 year old...I would prefer to not have to hold her.

Thanks in Advance.
Todd

Yes the tiers go up about 3 feet each. The key is being against the rail and not behind the guests stading right in front of you.

Skiingfast is right. if you can get a nice area near the railing free of people standing in front of you then that is a good spot. Otherwise the sections are not tiered enough to really see over the tops of peoples heads if you are under the height of 5’2!

You are better of doing one of the dining plans for WOC that way you are guaranteed a ticket in one of the sections that is reserved for the dining plan folks!

So, to get into the PD, what do you need to do? Also planning stuff for my trip in 2 weeks. :(

ohh got it pd=perffered dining...

haha umm duh i should of known that!

ok no fret. you still have time i think to book one.. you can always get the picnic dinners/lunches also. they make great dinners, and they also get you the reserved viewing, they also cost half then the pre-fix meals at Areiels and Wine country!

that link above is the link for the picnic meals, the slide show features photos of each meal. just read the info! anything that is highlighted in blue is a clickable link! unfortunatly they do not offer same day order and or walk up order.. skkingfast and i did the picnic meals for WOC in september, and it worked out awesome! and they were very good!

The picnics dont get you into the PD section - that is only if you have had the dining package as mentioned above.

Just wanted to add that if a spot along the railing isn't available, the top of the stairs is my next choice (for preferred dining anyway, not sure about other areas). We were on the top step last time we saw it and of course people were standing on the other steps in front of us but we were a little above them and could see fine. Obviously a tall person standing on the steps in front of you isn't going to give a good view though but just thought i would mention what my second choice is.

I thought the picnics only got you a guarantee of the fast-pass type ticket- NOT preferred seating. You will be herded into the main area just like everyone else if you do the picnic. If you do the dining package (Ariels or the other) you have your own roped-off area.

Dinner packages at Ariels or WCT get you veiwing from the preffered Dining area.

Picnics and Lunch from WCT get a ticket to either the blue or yellow viewing zones which are on the sides of the preffered dining area.

everywhere is a roped off area.. so please explain what you mean a bit more? yellow, blue, red and green all have roped off areas.. so does the handicap area's..so i am now confused even though i have seen this show 3 times

I meant 'the main area' as in where 'fastpass ticket holders' go, not where dining package people go. i realize that there are different sections within that fastpass area- I just didn't want anyone to confuse the Dining package and the picnic package as interchangeable. When we first did our research we certainly thought that the picnic would get us reserved space- but then quickly discovered it instead just guaranteed us a ticket! So we we did PS package at AG.

If you look at the plan (linked in post 1 of this thread) there is an area specifically for the dining packages. The passes that are given with the picnics are just for the other areas along with FPs that you get from the machine.

yes. i know i have done the FP two times and the picnic meal once i was not confused by the area's i was reffering to the persons post...... our area was ropped off.. we got the railing. we had yellow section it was a good section no one was in front of us! :)..i think skiingfast and i were really lucky that night!

:) it was a good way to see the WOC show, the picnic was really yummy.

you dont want the red section. you will get misted alot ..but still it's a fantastic show to watch!

We did the Preferred Dining and had a spot right where the number 1 is, against the railing. The view was great but we still put a couple hours of waiting in to get that spot. The way the let people into the area is poorly conceived and executed. If you want to be at the railing you need to be admitted right at the beginning. The Disney CMs will tell you you need to arrive in a certain area (which varied from CM to CM) by a certain time (which varied from CM to CM) and if you wait in that area you will see a HUGE crowd form getting ready to go in. These are people from all the different sections...and then the CM's tell you to go in with them or wait until the crowd goes down.
We didn't think the projections on the water screens were that great but there are some great effects to be seen on the water's surface that you may not be able to see if you are behind people. We are going to watch it from across the lagoon by the coaster launch next time.
