I've been assigned to make up some desserts. I have been told that someone else is making a pecan pie and the hostess is making an apple pie and a chocolate cream pie.

So I am making a Pumpkin Crumble, a lemon meringue (sp) pie and a cookie platter which will consist of....

Chocolate Chip Cookies
Peanut Butter Cookies
Raspberry Almond Thumbprints
Chocolate Caramel Bars

I'm also bringing the green bean casserole and the soda....

This is the way it should be (everybody bringing stuff). I like your choices. We always add a birthday cake, as we celebrate 2 birthdays on Thanksgiving.

Nobody is bringing a plain old pumpkin pie!!! that's blasphemous can't be Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie.

If I were you I'd change the lemon pie to pumpkin and keep every thing else the same other wise you are going to have all these different pies and no Thanksgiving traditional pumpkin pie.

Sounds good but I would add a cake too, not necessarily a b-day one but some sort of cake just for the variety, since most of what you have is pie.

I guess we always do sort of our traditional menu every year, so we have pumpkin pie, pecan pie, cheesecake, and then either coconut cake or red velvet cake.

Whatever you decide Im sure your family will enjoy it.

Sounds wonderful!!! :thumbsup2
I always associate pumpkin pie w/TG, so glad you have a Pumpkin Crumble. :goodvibes
Our families all share in TG dinner contributions too, makes it nice for hostess and a time to gather different recipes. :)

Happy Thanksgiving! :goodvibes

Actually, I did ask my SIL (the hostess) if everyone would have a mental breakdown if I brought the Pumpkin Crumble instead of traditional pumpkin pie. She said, I think the only person that it would bother would be your hsuband LOL (he's the fussy one in the family) So I said, no problem....he doesn't like pumpkin pie anyways.

And the bottom of the pumpkin crumble stuff is basically pumpkin pie with cake/crumble on top. Soooo good!!!!

Recipe for the pumpkin crumble please.

I think what you are bringing sounds good.

Sounds yummy (although I've had something like your crumble, but I prefer the traditional pumpkin pie). I have to ask though: how many people are going to be there??? That sounds like a TON of dessert!! Which, btw, would make me smile if I saw them all on the table! :goodvibes

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Pumpkin Pie and Thanksgiving go together! We got the "menu" for ours - our desserts are ambrosia, pecan pies, and 10 lb cake. (not sure what that is, but I think it is the one with thin layers and frosting in between layers). They will probably also have a birthday cake (dh's aunt and cousin's birthdays are close to T-giving) - carrot cake!

DH told his mom we would be bringing additional dessert - I don't think kids would eat any of those desserts! I wouldn't eat any of them!

We'll be picking up a pumpkin pie and maybe an apple pie from Sam's Club on Wednesday before! We are traveling there and staying in a hotel, or I would make a red velvet cake.

I like your cookie tray idea - those are good for a quick snack - just walking by to grab one.

Two years ago, I had three guest bringing desserts and NOBODY brought pumpkin pie! This year, I'm not taking any chances. My friend is making a homemade pumpkin pie for me. ;)

However, I would have been happy with pumpkin crumble. We had apple pie, coconut cream pie, chocolate pie, brownies, and a mint ice cream cake. Nothing even remotely pumpkiny.

There's only 10-12 of us for Thanksgiving at my SIL's, three of which are teenaged boys (14-15) LOL And yes, it is a TON of desserts, but just like the rest of the meal, everyone brings home leftovers with the desserts too.

I think my DS would demand to have another mom if I didn't make his pumpkin pie. :thumbsup2

OP. Sounds good. I must try that pumpkin crumble thing. ALong with regular pumpkin pie.
