How the heck did my cat accomplish this?

My kids take the bus to school. I just got a phone call from their principal saying our cat just arrived at school on the bus, lol.

We try to keep our cat inside, now and then he does escape but I swear I saw him in the kitchen this morning.

So, he somehow got past me when the door was open, he got onto the bus without my kids or the bus driver or anyone else noticing until they were just pulling into the school.

Yes, he is pretty small and he is black so maybe those things helped him be stealthy.

So here was my one day off in a while and I was looking forward to staying in my pajamas all day. Now I have to go get somewhat presentable to go pick up my dang cat from school.

Cats.

Your pets ever do things that leave you scratching your head?

Oh my goodness!!

Did he sneak into one of the children's school bags?

:lmao: Great Story.

My cat is 18 and I think in Menopause because everytime I open the freezer she comes out of nowhere & sticks her head in it.

Growing up, DH's dog used to walk down the street to the elementary school, walk through the halls to the kitchen and the lunch ladies would feed her scraps :lmao:.

Our dog likes to sneak things out of the garbage. She will lift something carefully out of the garbage can, TIPTOE across the floor and take it outside through her dog door. I found a serving spoon out there the other day (no idea how she got that one) :lmao: The other day she was trying to take an ice cream carton out the dog door. It was too big for her to get out so she went back to the garbage, got the lid, too that out instead :lmao:. It is HYSTERICAL to watch. I need to catch her on video sometime.

When my kids were in school, I drove them everyday, and sometimes just threw a robe over my nightgown since I wasn't going to get out of the car.

One day, right as we got to the school, I heard a racket in the trunk. I had to get out to see what it was since it sounded like a banshee going wild. One of the outdoor cats managed to get into the trunk the night before when we were unloading groceries and spent the night in there after the trunk was closed.

There I am, no makeup, hair in a messy ponytail, me in a robe, standing in the drop-off line getting a cat out of the trunk. :rotfl:

I don't know why everyone at school thought I was hilarious...

I vote for the accomplice as well. Someone probably stuck him in their backpack.

Of course, we have a cat who loves bags, any kind of bag. He tried to get in my son's duffel bag when I'm packing it for his dad's. I guess it is possible the cat climbed in himself.

When I was about seven, I once packed our cat in the laundry basket and took her down to the basement of our building with the laundry. I don't know why - I just thought it was hilarious. I told my mom I had no idea she was in the basket, that she must have crawled in by herself. ;) Rather doubt my Mom believed me!

Anyway, if I'd been riding a school bus at that age - or even a little older - I SO would have tucked the cat under my coat or popped her into a backpack.

Not saying the OPs kids did that, but if they were MY kids, I'd be looking at them suspiciously. :rotfl: After all, kids usually know how much a backpack weighs. If it's heavier, or starts squirming, they're going to check it out.

Your poor kids have school today?! (oops... I see you're in Canada :))

Many years ago when I still lived at home, my mom and I had to go to our church for something. When we got there, there was a kitty sitting outside on the sidewalk. I have always loved cats, and my dad wouldn't let us have one. We did whatever it was we needed to do at the church and went back home.

When we got there, weren't we surprised to see the cat sleeping in the back seat of our car??? No idea how it got there!

My first thought was accomplice also. :rotfl2:
(If it was the kids I would find that pretty funny as a mom. BUT, if the cat managed to implicate them when they didn't "commit the crime" that's even funnier. :upsidedow)

:rotfl:

This just made my day!! Too funny!

Cats are magical creatures. I never quite know how my kitties mangage to do the stuff they do...

my cat, Pepper, who is not 14 1/2, has gotten into a few predicaments. One night I woke up around 3 a.m. because I heard her crying. It was coming from the kitchen but I could not see her anywhere. Then i realized it was coming from the fridge! I thought I locked her in there somehow! But no...no cat IN the fridge...she had jumped on the top of it and fallen behind it and was stuck.:confused3 I had to pull it out of the spot it is in between the cabinets and the pantry to get her out.

These stories are hilarious!!!!

I had to go pick up DH's cat from his work one day. She had hitched a ride to work with him. He said about half-way there she popped up and meowed at him.

I say DH's cat because she follows him around like a dog.

That's too funny! I wouldn't be happy about having to get dressed to retrieve the cat either!

My "cat in a wierd place" story:

I get home from work around 1am, and usually get on the computer for a bit to unwind before bed. I use the computer in the basement so as not to disturb my sleeping family. There's a drop ceiling down there. So...one night, I'm sitting there happily DISing or whatever, and I hear a noise. I'm not easily spooked, but this was like someone was walking around upstairs. I checked - all was dark and quiet up there.

Then I heard it again, and I realized something was *IN THE CEILING!* All I could imagine was a racoon or squirrel or some other wild animal. I woke my DH who removed one of the tiles and discovered our kitten up there. She had apparently gotten into a closet, which I never realized until then didn't have the ceiling finished, and got into the ceiling and couldn't get out.

After that, we tried to be very careful about keeping the closet doors closed in the basement, but one day we obviously failed, because she got up there again. However, time had passed and she was no longer a little kitten. I heard the tell-tale noise and realized the cat was in the ceiling again, but before I could do anything, the cat fell through! WHAM! That was one freaked-out cat!! (no, she wasn't hurt, and no, she hasn't gotten in the ceiling any more!)
