I never rec'd a postcard or email. When I called on 2/7 I had no pin code, but when I called back on 2/8 I was told there was one attached to my account.

Here is how the 40% Pin Code worked for me. Is this how it worked for everyone? Or are there different versions of the 40% Pin offer?

Port Orleans - Riverside for 8 Night/5 ppl with trundle bed room
7 day Park Hoppers and DDP. Plus $119 trip insurance.

Original cost = $3793
After pin code = $3272

I asked the CM to explain the 40% part and he said, the 40% off is only taken off the room portion of the package. So...

Rack Rate + 15% tax = 1305 x .40 = 522

Discounted room w/ tax incl = 803
7 day park hoppers = 1239
Food plan for 2 adults, 1 12 year old, 2 kids = 1111
Travel insurance = 119
NEW TOTAL = $3272 (Total savings from pin code = $521)

Has it worked that way for everyone? Or are some pin codes 40% off the TOTAL package price? Meaning you would pay...

3793 - 40% (1517) = $2276

Thanks for letting me know! Because it seems like some people are talking about much bigger discounts, but it could be because you're staying at more expensive places to begin with and therefore saving more when calculating the room discounts.

:) I'm just trying to figure out if the deal I have is the best offered so far, or if I need to keep checking.

Yup that is the deal, the discount is only on the room portion of the package.

Your math is on the money!

But the 40% off is only off the room! ;)

Okay I am really confused. This is our first time staying on Disney property.

We are paying $3553.00 for our 7 night/POR stay April 29th-May6th for the 5 of us...2 Adults and 3 kids...14, 13 and 8 years old with the ddp with 7 day park hoppers with the water parks and more.

How do I figure out if I got a discount? I didn't ask for one....I just got it on the web site. But it seems to me...that I must have gotten some sort of discount right??

I don't think the web site gives discount - it's only rack rate. if you want discount, you need to call CRO or go through a TA.

that you have 2 kids that count as adults so their ticket is more expensive and their dining plan is almost 30 dollars more a day. But other than that it does look like you got the 40% off. Congratulations!!

This is what i dun understand, some people said it's a better deal than the free dining plan, but i dun see how 40% off room rate can be better than free dining at all....or am I missing something here?

It really depends on the resort that you are staying at and the number of people / types (adult vs kids) since the free dining plan is a set amount that you would save.

Here's my math based on the cheapest resort in each category during value season for 2 people for 4 nights. Remember, your mileage may vary ;) :

Example #1 - Value Resort:

Using 40% coupon - $82 per night x 4 nights = 328 X 40% savings = 131.20
Dining Plan for 4 nights = 320.00 (2007 rates rounded to nearest dollar x 2 people)

We'd save 188.80 total by using the free dining instead of the 40% discount

Example #2 - Moderate Resort:

Using 40% coupon - $145 per night x 4 nights = 580 X 40% savings = 240.00
Dining Plan for 4 nights = 320.00 (2007 rates rounded to nearest dollar x 2 people)

We'd save 80.00 total by using the free dining.

Example #3 - Deluxe Resort:

Using 40% coupon - $215 per night x 4 nights = 860 X 40% savings = 344.00
Dining Plan for 4 nights = 320.00 (2007 rates rounded to nearest dollar x 2 people)

We'd save 24.00 total by using the 40% code

Remember - you can't use both the discount and the free dining. It's one or the other according to a dreamsunlimited travel agent that I know.

Hope that helps :cool2:

The break even point for comparable savings for both plans is if you pay $250.00 rack rate a night for your room.
I’ll explain;
A family of four (2 adults-2 children under 10) paying full rack room rate to receive the free DDP would save $38.99 x 2 (adult meal plan price if purchase) and $10.99 x 2 (children’s meal plan price if purchase) so they would save $99.96 a night. It would not matter what hotel they stayed at or the price they paid for their room.

So say they stayed at a resort that cost them $250.00 a night and had a 40% off code that would save them $250. X 40% off = $100.00 per night savings. They could at that point take that $100.00 and add the dinning plan for $99.96 .

So as long as the room rate is $250.00 a night they both would have the same amount of savings
If your room is under $250.00 a night the free DDP is a better deal.
If your room is over $250.00 a night then the 40% off is a better deal

So say a lagoon concierge room at the poly cost $575.00 a night during value season and the guest had a 40% off a night they would save $230.00 a night but if they paid for the free dinning they would still have saved $130.04 more a night verses just receiving the free dinning.

Now if you are a family of four and every one is above the age of ten then the dinning plan savings would total $155.96 per night. So the break even comparable rate for that family using a 40% off code would be $390.00
So for a family of four above 10 years old
If your room is under $390.00 a night the free DDP is a better deal.
If your room is over $390.00 a night then the 40% off is a better deal

Hate to be the downer here, but this choice between DDP and the code is assuming you are *lucky* enough to get a 40% code in the first place.... for all the rest of us, we're crossing our fingers that WDW will even offer the Free DDP again this fall. I'm just not catching a break whatsoever with Disney discounts right now.

HI,

I originally booked 7 nights POP perferred room with 10 day hopper/no expire online for $1579. I called a month later and told them I was thinking of adding DD and asked if they had any special offers. I was given the 40% off rate and I added the DD and my total came to $1632. This is for 1 adult, 1 child. It was almost like getting the dining for free to me!:thumbsup2
