How sturdy are Magic Bands?

We just received our Magic Bands today :cool1: and they seem a little flimsier than I expected. I can snap it on and off very easily, and was wondering if anyone has ever had there's fall off at a park?

The can fall off but I've never had mine do it. I have a slider though that I normally slide down over the connection point though to hold it in place.

We are a family of 6 and have used the bands 3 trips and have never had one pop off.

The new ones are flimsier than they used to be. I never had a problem with them coming undone in the past, but on our most recent trip (this June) it popped off of me quite a bit. Mostly when my arm brushed against anything or when putting on/taking off our backpack. It came off a lot at Typhoon Lagoon when I was getting in/out of tubes. The old versions were definitely more secure. Husband's and kids' all popped off at one point or another during this same trip. My daughter didn't take hers off after our trip ended and the piece that goes into the holes actually broke off while she was wearing it so it can't be used anymore.

We've never had anyone have a band accidentally come off. Once you put them on their pretty sturdy and don't unsnap that easy imo. I never worry about them

We got new bands at Christmas. I never had an issue with it coming off at all. I found them as sturdy as the previous ones. I am looking forward to the purple one next trip!

My two year old has been wearing her band from last year's trip for five days now and it hasn't come off. She didn't wear it on the trip last year since she was so young. She wanted a purple one for this year's trip. I wonder if she'll want to wear it the entire trip? I'm hoping she doesn't lose it since she is the only one who picked and had to have purple in our family!! And, she's only two!

I never had a problem with mine but DD can break some stuff... there are two little "tabs" to secure the band yeah her's were gone but no idea how it happened.

They don't pop off on their own unless not properly snapped. Sometimes you think you have it fully popped in, but you don't. I usually just give it a gentle tug after putting it on to make sure it's snapped in. I have knocked mine off in the water park when I bumped it hard against something, but beyond that it's been plenty secure. We have yet to lose one.

Best place to get sliders? I'm seeing a lot of Bandits online, but they seem to be decorative.

We like Bit Belts.

And the newer, "flimsier" ones are actually an improvement over the original style, IMO-- more flexible and more comfortable, but no greater chance of damage or falling off really.

I've had a MagicBand fall off one time - I was getting on Expedition Everest and trying to pull my backpack off to put on the floor, and the backpack strap caught on the MagicBand and it popped off onto the seat. I put it back on before the train dispatched.

The little "BandIt" decorations, on the other hand, fall off all the time. I've lost several of them and I've more or less given up on buying them. I'd get a slider but I don't like any of the designs.

I have had mine fall off in the park a number of times each time I know it or someone noticed it. I know use my AP slider to hold my MB together

I also had a magic band break the dot totally Brock off one day. But for the most part they are good. If you are really worried the when you get to Disney ask for a plastic ticket fore ever one in your group so if something happens to your MB then you have a back up and if you have a back up nothing will happen.

Thank you everyone! This is our first time using Magic Bands, so I never got to see the old ones. Hopefylly, they won't come off. I'll just try to be careful with it.

I have a 13 year old who picks at everything, and he never managed to damage his. None of us ever had a problem with them falling off in the park or anywhere else.

If you find that yours are falling off you can always buy sliders at the park and they really do help.

I think we've been on 5 or 6 trips now with Magic Bands. Once, one member of the party came off a ride and realized 30 minutes later it wasn't on their wrist. Backtracked to that ride and amazingly a CM had it and they recovered it, saving a trip to guest services.

I have popped mine off many times by brushing on a bag strap or other reason a number of times but always noticed it right away.. but it makes me nervous.

One band was with my AP and I used it for 3 trips. I found the snaps became worn by the third trip and it was more prone to getting pulled open. So I often fastened it to my bag or kept it in my pocket that trip.
