We will have people with diabetes with us and they usually carry snacks at all times in case of blood sugar problems(one on insulin, one not). Does park security make a big deal of this or do theyusually let it slide?

Your friends will not have a problem at security. You are not allowed to bring in hard sided coolers. We brought a soft sided cooler into the parks everyday for 9 days and never had a problem.

Insulin dependant diabetic here - I always take plenty of snacks with us. Not just for me but for the others as well. I also always take some bottled water and a few tea bags (I have an addiction to unsweet tea). I usually pack some yogurt dots, granola bars (w/o chocolate - melty mess),chips, etc... I keep my glucose tablets for low blood sugar times though.
I have never had them say anything to me about my snacks and drinks.

No problem at all! They have become very relaxed at what you can bring in and I think it is wonderful. Now people don't have to sneak food into the parks or feel guilty about it!!

You'll likely get a joke from the security guard - "HMMM, I think I'll join you for lunch." But they aren't checking for food. We don't have a good excuse - other than little kids - and bring in snacks and water. Its easier and cheaper to carry them in.

I don't have a good excuse for carry in snacks either...other than wanting to bring in the 100 calorie snack packs so I don't feel as guilty about all the other goodies I'm consuming during the trip!!! But I've never been questioned about it by security.

The brochure you get when you check in includes snacks in the list of items you're allowed to bring into the theme parks.

Even venues that don't allow outside food provide a medical exception for diabetics.

Disney's official word is it food is fine. (as others have said.) Glass bottles and alcohol is not.

No straws at AK. That means no juice boxs and the like. Also you can't bring Ballons into AK (we did once as it was on the stroller and they made us "hold it" at Guest Relations.

But you can use sippy cups at AK.

We have never had a problem either-- It is a real money saver to bring your own pop or water into the park! Not to mention a little snack to hold you over til dinner.

Just like DisneyPHD said. Only thing is no glass bottles and no straws at AK. Everything else is allowed in.

Last year, I brought lunch and snacks for dh and 2 kids everyday for a week and the security guards even looked in my soft cooler and said nothing. The kids ate while in the stroller.

Have fun!!

When my little one was a pb&j-only diet I brought in a couple sandwiches every time we went to the park and never had any trouble. I've seen people unpack whole picnic lunches too.

Not strict at all and if security questions it just tell them it is for medical reasons and they will let it slide.

YOu are definitely not going to have a problem. I've actually seen families reheating meals for their children out of tupperware containers at the Baby Care Centers.

They obviously had to take those containers through security.

I just came back from WDW and my daughter does not eat breakfast in the morning, (she has to be up at least 2 hours before she eats). So I would make her some sandwiches and would bring them to the parks and I had no problems at security.
