How strict is the Yachtsmans dress code?

Other than trying to walk into a Signature wearing a bathing suit, I don't think I've ever seen anyone turned away.

Disney has a policy where their cast members are not allowed to accuse anyone of shoplifting. So you could walk into the Emporium, grab a stuffed Pluto, and walk out the door. Nobody would stop you.

"Nobody will stop you" doesn't mean "it's permitted or acceptable."

I see a big difference between nice sandals and cheap flip flops as I don't consider them the same thing. Hopefully they would as well.

I also find the flip flop thing a bit odd. I wear nice sundresses but with flip flops when it's hot out. I'm certainly not wearing heels and I don't think sneakers would really help the dressed up look. So flip flops it is. So far I've never had a problem.

No restaurant on property has a strict dress code besides Victoria and Alberts. Many of the nicer restaurants will have a range of people dressed up to park attire.

We actually saw a couple being denied seating at Cali Grill because the man was wearing cutoff jeans. Apparently you can wear just about anything at CG but cutoffs are verboten.

The only shorts my DH owns are various types of khaki cargo shorts, so we have dined in many WDW Signature restaurants with him cargo shorts. He does usually wear a Hawaiian shirt with them for dining out.

Except, those "musts" and "not permitted" often are not enforced. I suspect their hedge lies in that "Guests are asked to adhere..."

If you intend a dress code that means what it says, you don't ask; you require and back it up by refusing to admit diners who don't cooperate.

I don't think they turn anyone away. Like you, it could be a case where the person didn't pack the attire "suggested". So what would they do-ask you to take off your shirt? Then they have a bare-chested man in the restaurant. I think they'd only ask what they know you can correct. They did once ask my husband to remove his hat (baseball/golf type hat he forgot he had on) as it was not policy. It was something he could easily correct-remove the hat! Now, if DH had a "thing" about always wearing his cap, then we might have had a problem.

The only place I have seen this strictly enforced was V&A. Each time we have dined there, there was a male who came in without a jacket. They gave him one to wear for the meal. They were serious about their dress code.
I agree, most of the other Signatures don't. Especially if they are inside a park.
