I know I am all about safety and height restrictions, but I was curious how strict they are with the height restrictions on certain rides? My daughter is a very small 8 and she is 47.5 inches / very close to 48 inches and she really wants to go on HP and The Mummy. I know they will be strict with HP, but was hoping not so much with The Mummy? Let me know if anyone has had experience or thoughts ....... and any ideas as to how to stretch that extra half inch? LOL - Thanks for the input - we leave tomorrow afternoon for 4 days/3 nights - good old daddy daughter time.

with shoes on, wouldn't she be at least 48 " then?

you know, shoes with larger pad heels or thicker inserts/insoles in them........

Very strict.

I'm the opposite. Full upper body harness when you're in a seat on a robot arm, make the height lower; actual COASTER with just a lap bar, be more strict!

Assuming, of course, that by HP you mean Forbidden Journey.

They are strict. But at a half if inch and measure is not perfect she should make it.

Very strict. Not sure if they changed since the early 2000, but one year my sister got to ride on the ride and i never . She wasn't taller by me by even half a cm and they refused point blank. We looked the same height so it came as a shock I was smaller.

Thanks for the help ..... she is right at 47.5 inches, very close to 48 inches with shoes. Maybe I will have her where double socks one day .... LOL

My DD7 was 47.5" three months before we went to WDW last year. I told her to "think tall" until we left. By the time we got there, she was 48.5" with shoes. Not saying you should "cheat" the system but unreleated I will say some shoes have thicker heels than others. And sometimes folding a sock or a couple napkins and putting them under your heel can bring good luck.....or so I have heard :)

This is how we got an extra 0.5" for DD to ride the EXTREMELY exciting Tuck N Roll Buggies at DCA!

LOL - it has a 36" height requirement, NO CLUE why! :goodvibes

We were there a few weeks ago and my son was just a shade over 41" in bare feet and really wanted to go on the water rides and MiB that were 42" requirement. We found some thick soled shoes and he made it each time no problem. In our experience (maybe because the rides we were getting him on are not that dangerous) they weren't very strict, never even got checked on Popeys barges, and they glanced at him once as we went by the stick at MiB.

Don't get their hopes up is the best way to go about it. If she gets there and is tall enough yay if not you'll have to let it go.

TM should be trained to notice anything that might be giving the kids the extra height they need. Some are much better than others at actually pulling kids aside.

Also be aware that even if you make it past the first check if the TM at the ride load area thinks your kid may be boarder line and pulls to check it won't matter what matter that you made it through the whole line. The final TMs call is what happens. I can't tell you how many times I've watched parents fight with TMs at Universal and CMs at Disney because their kids were given the no go at the load but no one stopped them before that.

Also you are taller in the morning then later in the day so do anything she might be too short for first thing. I've even heard of kids getting on in the AM but by lunch they are too short.

I remember my DS had ridden a number of rides with a 42" requirement and had then went to go on journey to Atlantis and the TM got the measuring stick out and could just get it over his head and refused him to ride. He was only 3 1/2 at the time so couldn't quite grasp that we could not get him onto it and he was breaking his heart and ours. Went back when he was 5 1/2 and he rode it around 9 times in an hour early on and I think the scars had then healed. FJ were really strict and Mummy and at the time he was 5 1/2 and he was only just 48", just made it although one of the TMs did a double take when seated on FJ. The fingers were crossed as we waited quite a while for both rides. :)

She ended up being to small for everything and she was cool with it. The TM's were very polite and my daughter understood. We got a soft opening of the Hogwarts Express so that made up for that. Will try again tomorrow AM with the earlier admission - maybe I will have her put two pairs of socks on her or throw some napkins in her shoes ..... LOL - Her feet are so small that I cant put anything else in them, but will give it a shot...... was thinking maybe a hat too (bought one today). Thanks again for all the tips!

Steve

Tried again today ..... put double socks on her and she wore a hat .... no go for the mummy. Guess she is shorter than I thought. They took her hat off maybe I will try tippy toes tomorrow LOL
