How strict are they on size of carry ons?

I have a duffel bag that is 10 1/2 x 11 x 23. I saw in the booklet that you get with your documents that carry-ons should not be larger than 9 x 14 x 22. Should I get a new bag to carry on or do you think this is close enough? Thanks.

It boils down to how you answer this question: will your bag fit through a standard security screening machine (meaning the ones that you put carry-on luggage through; not the bigger machines for checked luggage). If it won't fit, you'll need a different bag.

Are we talking Air Ports or just getting into DCL terminal?

When getting into the DCL terminal, I think the only REAL restriction on carry-on size is "what will fit through the scanner".

I am just worried about DCL. It is ok in size for the airline I am flying. Since a duffel bag can compress in size and I am only off about an inch I was hoping I would be ok. Any other responses would be appreciated. If it won't work I guess I can get another bag but with lots to do I was hoping to spare the time and expense. Thanks.

My experience was that if it fit at the airline it will fit through security at DCL. Seeing how they appear to be the same type equipment.

I read somewhere that as long as your measurements combined are under 45" total (add your dimensions up) that you will be ok. I think my bag is the same as yours and I was wondering the same thing and then found the above suggestion.

Thanks. That makes a lot of sense. It looks like I will just make it at 44 1/2. :D

They are not sticklers on the size of your baggage on the ship...nor the amount you bring....at least for us they wern't...it all comes down to...if you can get it onto the plane...that's where we ran into the most trouble...but even then they wern't to bad about it. The four of us ended up checking at the curb NINE...yes Nine bags (I know WAY to many for four people...but it was our first cruise...and we didn't know what to expect....well at least thats my story). The porters at the curb have additional tags since each passanger is given only two....then we carried on at least two more bags.
