How Strict Are They ON Height Requirements?

Close to where we live there are some small amusement parks that are very strict about height requirements -- so much so that there is a different price for admission according to the amount of rides you can do. So before you pay, your kid is measured and then you are either given a list or shown the posted list of all the rides that kid can do.

I wonder if WDW could do something like this too (not the different admission (there are plenty of rides at WDW) but the measuring before you enter the parks), not to pre-approve kids, but to provide information to children and their families and to send home the point that WDW isn't going to change the requirements for their kid.

One thing people have to realize as well is even if the child makes the height requirement....they may not be ready for the ride.

:thumbsup2 This is so true. DS3 IS tall enough for BTMRR, ToT and Dinosaur. However, I am NOT letting him ride them until he is a little older. Dinosaur and ToT would scare the begeezers out of him. I probably would never get him on an elevator again. BTMRR would slide him all over the seat. Also, I'm afraid he'd go flying out on one of the turns or get squished by DH or myself. There will be a time when he is ready. Just not now.

:scratchin Personally, I've found the people trying to break the rules or have an attitude of entitlement are those that DON'T frequent WDW that much. It may be their one and only WDW trip or they are foreigners that don't understand the system. That's NOT an excuse. Just my observation.

:crazy2: Then again, they could just be jerks everywhere they go and eventually karma will catch up to them. ;)

I had a similar situation like that once at Guest Relations. Someone was requesting their money back because it rained and they were unable to "have fun." Never mind that no ride was closed and no show or parade cancelled (it was one of those "on again / off again" shower days). Never mind that the temps were in the 80s, which made the rain more "refresing" than it was "miserable." He and his family didn't have fun. They couldn't get the perfect photo they wanted of the castle with a blue sky behind it. They couldn't sit on the grass to eat their ice cream cones. They did not have fun.

I tried to explain to him that Disney does not control the rain and, while we were sorry that the rain dampened his plans (yes, I did actually say "dampened" ;) ), that he had spent an entire day in the park (he came to GR at around 8pm), that all shows and attractions had been in operation, and that I could not provide him with a raincheck or refund under those circumstances. He told me that he and his family were going to stand at the window until I gave him his money back. And he stood there! The other GR CM took care of the other people, while he just stood at my window. The guy stood there for over an hour and a half. (His family left.) He was still standing there when I closed the window. He could still be there now ... turned into a shrub ... like DeVine. :shamrock:
Okay, that has to be one of the best Stupid Guest Tricks I have ever heard! :thumbsup2

I think I met his brother at the outside DHS GR window once. We were in line and were next, but when we walked up to the window a guy came running through the exit and started loudly berating us for line jumping! DH and I, as well as the GR person, pointed out that he was the line jumper since he'd just run through the clearly marked exit. Then I said snottily, "Well, you'd better take care of Mr. Line Jumper first anyway since he obviously is much more important than everyone else." In reality, I just wanted to overhear his issue 'cause I figured it had to be an idiotic one. Sure enough, he went into a tirade about why he was not being allow to park hop WITH HIS SINGLE PARK TICKET.

1.)Can you just tell us wich sitcom?? :thumbsup2
2.)For all the other guests that were standing there worried sick about that child, can I just say "Thank you!"
3.)SERIOUSLY??? :confused3
1) I won't... but I will say that this gentleman also hosted a show on ABC at the same time where he introduced video segments sent in by home viewers.
2) You're welcome.
3) Yes, seriously. As in: "Isn't there some kind of a form I can sign saying I take full responsibility and I won't sue if she gets hurt?"

How would a little girl even know these rides exist?

How about this is my oldests (3.5) fifth trip to Disney and she KNOWS there are rides she hasn't been able to do yet. She just KNOWS.

Lucky for her I think she will be tall enough to ride at least SOME of them this time ~ but if she can't ~ she can't. She won't get a treat to not cry ~ because that isn't how we operate here. Maybe if she doesn't cry and is a good sport about it she might might get a little something.

I try not to bribe to end bad behaviour but will occasionally give a reward for good behaviour.

Just how we work on an everyday basis ~ and even though we are in Disney and yes we are more laid back ~ we still expect manners and best behaviour.

I really think this is a parent issue and not a child issue.

So ~ I hope she isn't disappointed... but she will live. I really don't get putting your kid in danger to say he/she rode something they didn't fit in.

Well, Buzz - after your initial report, I'm impressed that you still refer to him as a (voice-over on a current relatively hit sitcom on a non-Disney-related network that doesn't start with an "N" or an "F", either) gentleman :teeth:

Yeah, their safety record don't impress me much (as Shania Twain sang).

:scared: Oh great! We head there in June. :faint: (First DLR trip!!! :cool1: )

I have been forewarned it is a different "vibe" at DLR, even with the CMs. I hope we don't become too disenchanted. We've been spoiled at WDW. ;)

Stupid Guest Tricks

:rotfl2:

(After reading so many "Stupid Guest Tricks" on the DISboards, I give even the grumpiest CM the benefit of the doubt now. Some things are so ridiculous, they have to be true ;) )

:rotfl2: Wow! Well if that doesn't give it away, I don't know what will. He must of had his hands FULL on the show. ;)

It's also amazing what websites one finds when one puts a .com after phrases in quotes.

I never watched the show in question... but I understand most of it took place inside a HOUSE.
