How strict are they about the DP?

We have been to WDW many times but this will be our first time using the DP. I know they list table service meals as one entree and one desert. Does any one know if they will allow you replace a desert with an appertizer?

If only... but no, they don't let you, I've been told. It's too bad as we'd much rather have the appy than the dessert (or split one of each), but that's against the rules.

This is correct. I think the strategy is: they're more likely to order the app. because they are hungry, so give the dessert and they might not even nedd it??

Thanks, that is what my hubby and I do when we eat out we will split an app and spilt a desert.

Yeah, it's an absolute no-no. There are likely two reasons. First, as noted, people are more likely to order an appetizer ala carte than they are a dessert. Secondly, if the party isn't going to supplement their DDP order out-of-pocket, then limiting them to two courses turns the table over faster; if an appetizer could be subbed for a dessert, then each couple is far more likely to order one of each and split them, taking extra time but yielding no additional revenue to the restaurant.

DH and I split salad as app a couple of times on ddp last xmas week. I usually took home the dessert if we were at resort or on our way out. I'm not much of a dessert person, but DH snacked on them during the evenings at our OKW villa.

No way, no how!:rotfl: Not even for diabetics. This question gets asked on here alot and not once has anyone posted that they've been able to do so.

Yes, many of us would love to do this, but many of us asked when the plan changed and was told no. I'm not a desert eater, so often I just have mine boxed up and my DH eats it later in the room.

Actually, someone did once - but that was the only one. There was something off about that report though as the person claimed they were able to do so on the regular dining plan at ALL restaurants. If they were, they were the only person in the past two and a half years posting to the DIS who has been allowed to do this. There were also a couple of "someone told me that they traded their dessert for an appetizer."

Then I suppose you could stay on separate reservations, one of you on DxDP and the other on QSDP...

p.s. I'm being facetious...
