How soon

We are going to WDW December 17th-24 and our kids will miss 3 days of school just prior to christmas break. How soon should my wife and/or I notify the school of their upcoming absences?

When we went in Dec. my kids missed 1 week and we let the teachers know as soon as possible then we reminded them about 2 weeks before the trip. We wrote a letter to each teacher and principal. Hope this helps.

Personal preference. We take our son out of school for a week every winter to go to Disney. We usually let them know two weeks in advance.

The Friday before we leave. If we leave on a Wed., we notify the Friday before. Monday? Friday before, MAYBE Thursday. Friday? Friday before. It's how we've always done it.

I'd say about a week or two prior to your trip. That way they have time to gather your child's work and all.

I give a 2 week notice to the teacher. Of course, DS10 FORGOT to give his note to the teacher on Friday, so now it will have to wait until Tuesday.

He does morning annoucements at school, I'll send them a note either this Friday or Monday-so he has coverage if needed.

I don't bother with a note to the principal, I call and leave the info the day before for the office.

I always give them about a week and a half notice to 2 weeks notice.
