I know it is human nature to try to push painful memories from our thoughts, but I have to keep remembering how terrifying it was the morning of 9/11 watching those attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and wondering what would be attacked next. I remember feeling that nothing would ever be the same and the feeling of freedom and being immune from what was going on in other parts of the world was over. I live in an area which lost many, many people in the trade center, as well as personally losing a wonderful friend. I was close enough that I could see the smoke from the buildings just a short walk from my home. I wonder how I would feel about things in this election if I lived in L.A. or somewhere else where I felt far removed from where these things happened?? People around here still fly their American flags and have been doing so since that terrible day. My brother visited from L.A. in December of 2001 and remarked on how many flags were flying here as opposed to where he lives.
I know it affected the country as a whole but I think it is time for all of us to reflect back on how we felt that day and on how fortunate we have not been attacked since...
Just my thoughts and my opinion....

) who have without a doubt forgotten terrorism ever even existed. If I could vote, my vote would go to the man I thought could best handle terrorism, because if that continues to be a problem, nothing else matters. Yet people like my stepdad and thousands others, just don't act like they care. The words actually came out of his mouth, in front of my mother and I on this year's 9/11 anniversary, as we were watching the coverage and grieving for my aunt who was murdered that day, "terrorism just isn't a pressing issue". That was the biggest load of BS I have ever heard. I really do think that many have forgotten. Those of us who were affected have been forced to live our lives, silently remembering, while everyone else carries on, forgetting what happened. Sure people remember what happened, but the impact just doesn't seem to bother them. If only I was 2 weeks older, I'd be able to vote for the right man. But I'm not so I have to leave that up to the rest of the nation, to hopefully come to their senses in the next couple weeks.
