How soon should I reserve for honeymoon?

FI and I are planning to stay at the Port Orleans hotel for our honeymoon. When should I reserve for next year (October 2005)?
FI proposed to me there and we are trying to stay at DisneyWorld the same time of year but don't want to miss out on any of the savings that may come later in the year. Could we ask for offers to be applied to our reservation at a later time?
I desperately want to stay at the Port Orleans but want to save money. I already have the Disney Visa, so I am hoping that will be handy with discounts. Any ideas?
Also, has anyone stayed at the PO, since renovations?

I don't know if the Disney hotels follow the same guidelines, but most hotels start taking reservations 330 days out ... so if you want to reserve in Oct 2005, you probably won't be able to do it until late Nov/Early Dec 2004

I didn't even think of it that way. It is so strange, I am just so excited about the wedding and the honeymoon....actually more so excited about the honeymoon.

You can reserve your room now but the rates are not gauranteed. You will have to pay the 2005 rate. We already reserved our room for 2006. We had to leave a room deposit for this years rate but will be charged 2006 rate.

I popped the question in '98. We also stayed at Port Orleans. Love it!

I actually got down on one knee in the resturaunt at the top of the Contemporary. DW thought I dropped my fork. Got a standing O from the other guests, and free desert.

I love staying on-site, but the last trip we stayed at the Marroitt Grand Vista (right near SeaWorld). Two bedroom, full kitchen, dinning room, living room, and big balcony. Very good way to save money, while getting top shelf digs.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside (then called Dixie Landings) for our honeymoon in 1998!

I don't know how early you can book... But you can certainly use the codes after you make your ressies. You just have to watch for them!! A good thing to do is sign up at http://www.mousesavers.com for the emails. Then you'll be notified when a code comes out.

You can book now. The 2005 rates are out. You have to call they are not on the disney web site.
