A month from today we will be leaving. I figured on Sunday which will be 3 weeks 3 days until we leave I am going to start packing. My husband is going away for the day & night with the kids so i have the whole day to do this in peace. I have new outfits which i dont intend on wearing until vacation and various other things which can be packed away ahead of time. Has anyone done their packing this soon?
I DONT like to wait until the last minute and figured this is my shot to get alot done without any interruptions.

you have my wife beat. This last trip she had me picking out the clothes for my son two weeks for the trip and actually started setting them out a week before the trip. And we left on a Sunday giving us all of Saturday to get ready.

I on the other hand walked in my closet and grabbed various shorts, t shirts, polos and button downs and was done in about 30 minutes.

I actually start packing about 6 weeks ahead of time, I am a overpacker ad tis gives me time to "weed out" some outfits so I don't have to many I don't wear. I also have my essentials packed all the time because I am on the go alot. Its never to early to start packing!

hello! Our trip in a month.we llive the 20 ,on a thrusday.i want to start packing but i still have to buy some stuff that i need medicine, toileries ect....

We are not going till September 10th, but as soon as I booked the trip in March, I got one of those storage boxes and started putting things in it and added as I saw things for the trip. The box is almost filled and the suitcases are in the spare bedroom but I will pack everything 4 days before we leave. Its never too early to pack for Disney, its part of the planning process and it is exciting.:mickeyjum

I usually start figuring out what to pack about 3 weeks before we leave. Then about 1 week before, I actually start putting everything in the suitcases.

DM will start figuring out what to pack about a month and a half, then actually start putting everything together a month before they leave. She's hardcore. lol

We leave Sept 12th and I have already started throwing stuff in a suitcase. When DH and I came back from our anniversary trip in May, we just left the suitcase in our room. (The kids don't know we are going! They think mommy and daddy are too lazy to put the suitcase away! :lmao:) I've picked up t shirts and towels here and there and have thrown those in. I found their little fans and light up Disney toys I got them before our last trip and threw those in too. I also have started a bag of pennies and quarters to take along for pressed penny machines so that is in there. Nothing too hardcore, but yes, I have started too. :rotfl:

We leave Sept 11 and I have been accumulating things for well over a month now. In fact, I think the actual day we booked I dug out the Disney mister fans we bought during our last trip. I also dug out some travel games and whatnot for the plane. They are all in a box, put aside so when I begin packing they will be easy to find.

My MIL bought my DD a new carryon bag and a special Minnie outfit for Disney, that I have already put right into the bag, to make sure I didn't forget it and get MIL angry!

When I was younger (elementary school aged) it was like clockwork: My grandmother would get me loads of clothes, and I'd run upstairs and pack for our trip to Disney... in March! :rotfl:

The trip with my mother in late August, I've been packed for a month or two. But even today I just added something. I better be done, I don't have any more room left! :lmao:

LOL :rotfl: a bunch of people just like me! :grouphug: Ive been packing slowly but surely for my sept. 21st trip since january! i got a $50 target gift card so i started purchasing travel-sized items back then. i have a whole drawer full of stuff ready for my trip! i think for budget reasons its better to purchase these items slowly so you dont have to shell out the money all at one time.

About 2 weeks before we leave I start thinking about the extra items we may need for the airplane or at the resort and buy them that week. 1 week prior is when I start actually putting stuff into the suitcases so I can add stuff here and there as I think of it.

About a month before we go I make a list of everything I need and slowly start buying everying. The day before we go I get everything into suitcases.

Putting everything in a suitcase to early = wrinkley clothes

I will admit it now before anyone gives me a hard time - I need help with my packing obsession. We leave Sept. 12th and I have been 90% packed for at least 2 months. Before that I had a box of stuff that I had been picking up for the past year.

Wow you sound like me. I started buying things last July such as pins, lanyards, character dresses, fans, etc......Now i am so glad that i stocked up & paid for these things a year ago. Now i have more money this year for spending money as crazy as that sounds.
After Sunday I will probably be 50-75% packed. I really have to take advantage of this alone time.

Thanks everyone for your input, im not the only crazy one:dance3:

I usually don't start the actual packing until the night before but I start shopping for the trip months in advance. :rotfl:

You must have a ton of clothes. If I 90% packed my family that far in advance we would have nothing to wear all summer.

At least you are giving your self enough time to pack - no rushing involved. Sometimes half the fun of a trip is in the planning - enjoy your obsession.:goodvibes

I only left out a couple of pair of shorts to wear now (only day I get to wear them is on Sunday so don't need that many - will pack them at the last minute) I only pack a couple of shirts and buy the rest down there to wear. That way I have room for more stuff on the way home.

I'd have already packed, but we're borrowing my parent's suitcases (they're bigger!) and they're still in their loft! I do have a lot of my clothes ready under the bed... Suppose I could wash and iron them all again before we go...

I used to pack months before we went on vacation, but these days I have been to the USA in the summer so many times before that I don't feel the need to plan so much. I know what I am going to pack, but I will begin to wash and stop wearing the clothes I will take maybe 7 days before we travel. I think I will pack 2 or 3 days before we go. Having said that there are some things such as travel wash bags, travel sewing kits, mesh bags to put dirty clothes, power leads with US plug adaptors on etc that I always have in my case ready to travel. I always also have camera chargers etc that I will need to take with me in boxes ready to just pack into the case when the time comes.

Wow, I thought I packed early. I always pack the weekend before we leave regardless of what day of the week that will be. I've tried on weeknights or doing a little here and there further in advance but then I feel like I've forgotten what's already packed and where I put things.

Also we don't have a ton of clothes so packing for the same season that we're in is hard sometimes.

I used to make a list but now I keep my lists stored as a Word document for each one to print anytime. Orlando packing, cruise packing, contact info (for my neighbor who cat sits) and a 'things to do before leaving' list with a break down of what to do the weekend before, 3 days before, day before, that morning, etc. Set timers on lights, charge cell phones/Nintendos, pack all chargers, pedicure, set thermostat, put trash out, run dishwasher, etc.

When crunch time comes and dh is yelling & rushing me, I start to forget what needs to get done. Now we all just check the list and cross it off as we do it. No more standing there asking me what's taking so long...;)
