How soon do I need to try on dresses?

Congrats on the weight loss. Keep up the good work.

Ok, First I have heard that most wedding dresses are designed so that they can be taken in. I heard somewhere that they are designed to take in as much as 2 sizes.
Second, I was watching a wedding show this morning and they were talking about weight loss for a wedding. They said it takes around 15 pounds to lose a dress size. It sounds about right. I lost about 15 pounds between my two dresses, and I lost a dress size.
Most dress shops recommend you order your dress around 6 months out. My dress took a little less than 3 months to get.

Best of luck with everything

Wonderful dress - I love the bottom.

My DF works for the post office and he was a window clerk in the Highland Park Post Office for about 6 months about a year ago. Small world.

Yes, A dis Desert Party would have been fun.

Thank you !!

It is a small world, most people have never even heard of Highland Park in NJ. There's one other bride on the boards who used to live in the area who knows about it.

I started trying dresses last year, probably January, and found "the one" in February. I am getting married 1/20/08 and I had my final fitting yesterday. I have lost 20lbs, and being less than 5' tall, 20lbs changed me A LOT! I wish that I had started Weight Watchers a long time ago. My dress (dacio by San Patrick) is a corset back, and since losing weight the corset effect has been lost a little bit. The bridal shop (Bella Sera Bridal in Middleton, MA) didn't want me to lose any more weight or they would have to take in the sides as well as cutting like a foot off the bottom. I would suggest losing a little bit of what you want to first, because that will help you in picking the dress that you really want.:ccat:
