How soon can we sit down with a wedding planner?

What is the earliest you can sit down with a Disney wedding planner? We're looking at a May 2011 Disney Wedding. We have yet to talk to anyone from Disney or make a down payment or anything. Do you have to book the wedding before you can sit down with someone? Can you only book a wedding 12 months before or anything? I'd like to book a vacation for myself and fiance this October and figured we could spend the first or second day with a wedding planner. Would this work or is it too early for them to be willing to sit and spend time with us? Is there a charge or anything?

Call DFTW and see let them know you're coming down in October and would like do a site visit. Then they should assign you a consultant that will help you decide on locations. You can't book anything or pay the deposit until 12 months out. There is no charge for a site visit that I know of.

You won't be able to speak with a wedding planner since you aren't assigned those until you sign the contract. You can speak to a coordinator about locations and have a site visit.

You won't be able to pick out things like cake, flowers, etc. since you do that with a planner.

When would I sign the contract on a Wishes wedding? Is it 18 months beforehand?

You sign the contract for a Wishes wedding at a year for some locations (In park locations) , and 8 months for others (I think, Wedding Pavilion I think is 1 location that is 8 months out)

No, we couldn't sign our "wishes" contract until 8 mos. before the big day. (April 6th, 2008 before our 12/6/08 Wishes wedding). We had our planning session w/ our wedding planner a couple months later- 6/27/08- to be exact.

I met with our wedding coordinator, Heidi Pickert, first in march of '07, then again in 10/07, to anchor our locations down with my mom, MIL, and BM's. I didn't find out from Heidi we had our locations until the Tuesday after our wedding date passed: so it was roughly 12/11/07, that I got the confirmation call from Heidi.

**One thing with Disney is we could've been bumped out of our (most likely reception) location b/c a convention takes priority over weddings. Disney is very forthcoming w/ the exact info as far as timing and parameters of a convention taking precedence over a wedding. Just ask and they'll let you know b/c I don't exactly remember what it is...maybe lurkyloo does.

Good Luck!! :goodvibes

What is a "site visit"?

It's where you meet with your consultant and visit the wedding/reception locations you are considering.

For DFi and I this is important to us, because just looking at the few pictures they provide doesn't really help us. So we planned a trip just to do that, and celebrate my birthday.

Once we call Disney for the first time to let them know we want to meet with someone, will they send us anything? Like more info about specifics for our wedding or a book with pics or anything at all? I already got the DVD you can order, but it seemed quite outdated and old and not much information.

When you call Disney, they won't send you anything. Once you get your consultant, you can discuss with them locations and they'll email you pdfs with information on those locations that include photos.

I've ordered the DVD twice and have still yet to see it. (I ordered it about 7 months ago, and again about 2 months ago)

I ordered it too but only got a kind of "Viewbook" thing. Still waiting on the DVD.

When you call, they will tell you that a consultant will call you. About a few days letter you should get a phone call from someone. They will discuss locations you are interested in and send you information on those. They really try to help you out the best they can. :thumbsup2
