How soon after direct purchase can you vacation?

We are planning on financing through Disney but plan to pay off the balance in a year, two at the most. At what point do our points show up in our account and from there when can we book/take a vacation?

Based on availability, you can vacation right away. The last time i added on direct through Disney, the points were in my account same-day!

As above, the points will be there more or less immediately. The real question will be availability, but when buying direct, if you want to travel within the first seven months after you buy, they'll very often help find a room for you (known as booking a Welcome Home stay). The room might not be at the resort you really want, though, because if rooms aren't available to book on points, then they have to take a room from their cash inventory, and that can vary from one resort to another.
