How soon after Christmas do you take your tree down?

usually around one week

Usually the 26th or 27th....by then I am so sick of looking at it I want it out of there! I would rather put it up early and have it down the day after Christmas...once all the presents are opened and put away Christmas day there is no need to keep it around.

I would say Jan 3rd but, that's the day we're celebrating with the inlaws so, maybe the 4th. If not, the following weekend. I hate taking everything down, for 2 reasons!

I've taken mine down on Christmas - we always go out of town the day after. Now that I have an artificial tree I leave it up. I leave all my nativity scenes etc. up until after Epiphany, but everything else comes down a bit earlier.

As a child we would leave it up until New Year's or the day after New Year's....now I usually take it down the 26th or 27th; our living room isn't very big and I have two little kids so we are screaming for space!

I like to leave ours up until after January 1st, then sometime during that week it comes down. :( I HATE taking it down!! It just looks so beautiful all lighted and decorated. I think the house always looks so "bare and forlorn" after the tree and everything else is put away... :( ....sniff, sniff....

One Christmas morning I had to go out for something - can't remember what - and at 10 a.m. someone had their tree out at the curb!! Whoa!

Ours is usually up until at least January 6th..

That was me 7 years ago!! Usually we wait until 9 or 10 that night or the next morning, but never longer than the next day. We have a small house and the tree is really in the way.

I usually leave it up til New Years Day and am contemplating leaving up until the 3rd or 4th since it's such a short week. Although I admit, there have been years depending on my mood that I have been ready to rip it down the day after Christmas.

I usually wait until after the new year...may leave it up until after the sugar bowl if we have a little party at our house.

Then it's time to start getting my mardi gras decorations together. :)

We usually go away for a few days while the kids have no school and don't want to leave it up at home alone.

Why, are you afraid the tree might have a party while you're away? ;)

For years there was a house at the corner of State and St. Charles in New Orleans that never took their tree down. They had a huge glassed in sun room at the front of the house where they kept a very large tree.

They decorated it for each season. I loved driving past that house and seeing what they had done for Halloween, Mardi Gras, Valentine's etc. I was never there in the summer (one tries to avoid New Orleans summers) so I don't know what they did then.

I guess they sold they house and new people moved in. I was so disappointed when I realized the tree was gone.

I usually take mine down Christmas night or the next day. It doesn't look as good without the gifts and after a month of it up I really need the space. I LOVE Christmas...but the tree really takes up alot of space in my living room. I have a small table top Disney Tree, but the kids will not let me get by with just using it!! Guess the gifts won't fit under it!! haha

Merry Christmas:earsgirl:

I usually start "undecorating" January 1st and am done within 2 or 3 days. Sometimes I start with the tree, and sometimes I end with the tree.

I think having it down by 10AM Christmas morning is a tad bit unusual!

We wait until after the New Year. I will watch football on New Years day anf the rest of the family takes down the decorations. It is then my job to carry all of the boxes and store them away until Thanksgiving.

As a kid, Mom kept the tree up until Little Christmas, except if the needles were dropping too fast.

I'd keep my artificial tree up all year if I could. One year I was well on my way, changing the ornaments to suit the Holiday (ex: red white & blue for July 4). But the house went up forsale in the fall and the realtor made me take it down.

Now I have a small (30") half tree that hang on the wall in the sunroom and it is decorated with miniture lighthouse ornaments. It does stay up all year.

Gotta love Christmas!

WE just put ours up!! We will take it down after the 12 day of Christmas.
