How soaked will my bag get on Kali River Rapids?

Oh the small details of trip planning :) So assuming I managed to be one of those folks that gets soaked on Kail just how bad will my park bag get soaked? Should I plan on bringing a plastic bag to put it in? :thanks:

I have always gotten SOAKED while on Kali River Rapids. There is a storage bin in the middle of the raft but it will only hold a certain amount of bags. So, it will all depend on how many and how large the bags are. I take along several large ziplock bags and put our camera and camcorder into the bags and then down into the backpack. Even if my backpack got a little wet, the camera and camcorder stayed dry.

If I remember right, there is a compartment in the middle of the raft where you can put bags, jackets, and/or anything else that you don't want to get wet. We did, however, wear ponchos. :-)

Totally depends. We rode twice in a row when we went last time. First time I got drenched, second, not so much. My Mil didn't want to ride with us, so we left our bags with her. A plastic bag may help.

I bring those jumbo sized ziploc bags and throw my whole bag in there before riding Kali or Splash. I always get SOAKED on both!

Throw a trashbag in your bag and throw your bag into the trashbag (preferably with tie straps) just before gettin on. When you get off throw away the trashbag.

I usually stop at the vendor before the rapids and ask for a bag to put my bag in. Fold it around, and put it in the center thing.

We wear ponchos ,cheaters i know , but I put my bag under the poncho so it stays nice and dry..

I saw folks last friday that looked drowned as rats from riding that ride.

One more tip - DON'T wear sneakers on that ride. Beyond having to wear them the rest of that day, they probably won't dry out for days.

I find the best bet is if you can leave your valuables off the ride. I don't know why they didn't put in lockers there, like they have at Universal.

Totally - Grizzly River at DL has (free!) lockers. They are fairly hidden tho and if it hadn't been for the Dis, I would never have known to look for them. Every time we rode (many!) we rode with people who got cameras, phones, sneakers, backpacks, etc soaked.

Wow! So many responses so fast! Thanks everyone! I knew I'd proabably be getting wet but wasn't sure if the storage spaces were water proof. Guess not! I suppose that's one of the few oversights in the Imaginears planning...

Thanks again!:thumbsup2

The storage container is sufficiently waterproof. I believe the other posters were saying they got soaked.

we're planning on wearing tennis shoes into the parks, so yall are suggesting we take another pair of sandals into the park with us? i guess we could leave our tennish shoes in the stroller??

I was extremly prepared. We changed from tennies and socks to crocks. We brought heavy duty ponchos from home. We didn't even get wet !:lmao: But if I had 1 cent for every person who asked where we got our ponchos from I could have paid for my vacation:rotfl: We were even offered 10$ for them:confused3

Me and DH tried Kali River Rapids during our second trip but we left our bags to my sister who don't want to ride with us. We saw that some puts their bags under the ponchos but plastic bag may do. :thumbsup2

We have had mixed success with the center storage bin. On one trip another guest put her Monster sized bag in after mine and the lid did not close all the way :scared1: . Needless to say, things were pretty wet. As a side note, they do not allow you to take your shoes off and ride barefoot so if that is the plan, bring another shoe.

I would wear sandals if you are planning on riding Kali River Rapids, unless you don't mind wearing wet shoes for a few days!
