How small is a Ford Edge or similar?

On budget website, it says that a standard SUV is a Grand Cherokee or similar. So, I book one thinking that the trunk space in that will be enough for a wheelchair plus a double jog stroller plus a diaper bag plus a small cooler plus some incidentals. But when I actually book, it then says a standard SUV that I booked will be a ford edge or similar. I had never heard of such a vehicle, so I google it and it looks like a crossover car. Not big enough for my neeeds, right? I contact budget with the concern that the website says Grand Cherokee or similar but the booking says Edge. They (rather rudely) state that both are 5 passanger SUV's and are the same category. Is an Edge big enough in the back?

The ford edge is nice and is pretty big I enter it from Alamo and it has more room unbeaten the front and back then my highlander. And it has a big trunk space I difently fit the double stroller but not sure about the wheel chair it might. You know what go to your local ford pretend your interested and they willahiw you t sometimes they are I. The show room. It drives really nice and roomy it the first car/suv that I like sitting in the back because you seemed far from the front. I would say the trunk is bigger then the jeep I think the trunk as big or alittle bigger then a highlander.

Hmm, the Edge is definitely a crossover. It's what we got for our full size pick at Dollar in February. It was very nice and roomy. I hope we get one again next month!

Nice and roomy for a crossover, but how can budget sell it is a standard SUV on the same category as a Grand Cherokee? Frustrated!

Yeah alamo had it as a standard suv and they have the flex as a full size suv but know nthey coming out with midze cross over and full size cross over so they can charge more.

Xmas week (8 days) with a good code they want $270 plus fees for a Edge, $1200 plus fees for mini-van or Explorer. HAHA. For $1000 diff I'll strap the darn wheelchair and stroller to teh roof of the little Edge!!! This whole rental car game can be a nightmare!

So, what is bigger since I can't make heads or tails of this Budget website....

An Escape or an Edge?

12/26-1/3

Get this, with the DisBoards code (Y937800) it is 300 plus fees for the Escape, 434 for the edge.

same dates with the travelocity code (X474200) the Edge is 270 plus fees and the Escape is 1041 plus fees!!!

Huh??? $700 price diff for the one type of car, one type is more expensive in one code than the other? I'm confused. Is standard supposed to be bigger than Int or vice-versa?

it might sound funny because it dosent look big but i would have to say the edge is bigger it is roomy more room then my highlander the trunk bigger. Their more leg room you dont feel like you seat on top of the front seat their enought room to stretch your feet. You will want one when your done when i return the edge i had alamo and airport employees asking how it was and saying they love and thinking of getting it. It one of the reasons ford is makeing money that and the flex. But it also comes up to what you willing to pay if the escape is cheaper then it a nice suv did you try alamo last minute deals some times they have good offers like 35 a day for full size car and suv.

I am looking 12/26-1/3. I guess I'd have to wait for "last minute" for Dec 26th, right? Do you have any great alamo codes?

Edge is cheapest overall with the travelocity code... 270, 358 after fees.

yeah i am still waiting if you go on costco travel look under rental cars they are the best unless you can wait for the last min deals i dont know if you have a costco membership. You dont need it to search or book it and they say to bring that and the coupon but i have one and always use them to book and they never asked for anything at mco. just use the kiosk instead of going to the counter it faster and easy. If your a disney pass holder they offer i think a 10 percent discount or 20 percent. but i find that suv any size they still charge alot but if your staying over on a sat then they give a bigger discount because most of the coupon require a sat stay over but their a couple good one that dont. They also have budget never used them so dont know what coupons they have.

I was playing around with the costco and i have never seen such high rates i ried a free day and 25percent off plus 30 off and the cross over still come over 1000. the only good thing is you get a free scond driver. I guess it bad when they have he econmy for more the 500. They are basicaly trying to make money when they know they can.

Yeah, it's frustrating to rent a vehicle sometimes especially how each company wants to categorize their vehicles. I don't see how a Grand Cherokee and Edge are in the same category. When you go car searching they are two distinct categories. Edges compete with the likes of Chevrolet Equinox and etc.....

Yeah pricing is retarded sometimes. Initially when I was looking at rental cars back in June / July for Sept. they had a minivan price around $900 while a Full Size SUV was like $500 so I went with the later but finally got a better price through Priceline for $30 a day for a mini-van so that was better than before.

The Edge is bigger than the Escape.

I rented one off the National Executive Aisle in March this year and just took a look at my profile to see how its classified. It says its a "full size crossover". We drive an explorer in our real lives, so this was a nice mini version of what we're use to. It was only the 2 of us on that trip and fit us nicely. But we kept the seats folded down throughout the trip.

Right now I have 3 ressies. The Edge or similar, the Escapr or Similar, and a mini-van using a FL Employee code even though I am not an FL employee. I'll keep lookimg.

We had a ford edge, and my best friend had a grand cherokee...hands down we could fit more in the back of our car than my friend could hers. now, a double stroller and a wheelchair? maybe. Is it a regular wheelchair that you fold up? if so, I would think you would be able to fit it.

You might not want to go 4wheeling in an Edge, but interior space is quite comparable to a Cherokee.

I had a Escape or similar reserved and was put in a Pontiac Vibe.....there is ZERO possible comparison between those vehicles.

Does anyone know what else Budget puts in the STD SUV or Similar category?

If you are more than two people and need the back seats for people, it will not be big enough. We drive an Edge it is roomy if the seats are down. When not down, it has about the same amount of space as the trunk of a larger sedan. Our Trailblazer had more rear space (bigger than Cherokee) My mother travels with us frequently and between our luggage, cooler, and her walker, our back space is full and our rear view is often blocked. The back seats are 60/40 so if there is only one rear passenger, you can put down just one seat and that will give you more space and may be doable. Good Luck!

Thanks. 2 car seats in back and 2 adults in front. Double jog stroller (a wide beast) and wheelchair. So, no chance to fold back down. A large sedan's space would not cut it or sure.... thanks for info. I have a mini-van reserved at a higher price with a questionable code. I fugure I can fold the rear row down on that and put wheelchair and stoller up, kids in 2nd row .. or vice versa with kids in way back and stuff in the middle.
