How slow is your mail?

My sister sent me an anniversary card 16 days ago from a town 45 minutes away and still no card.

Last year I waited for my annual zoo passes to arrive and it took three months to receive them from the time they were mailed. I live in Ohio and the Passes took a detour to New York.

My mother works at a big Post Office and has told me many times that the workers who can't read just send the mail off to whereever. She even told me of a package that was mailed from Egypt to an address in Egypt ended up in the Ohio post office.

Actually my local post office is a city joke. The workers don't work and they take breaks all day long. They make you stand at a specific point and if you cross the line before they are ready to serve you they will tell you to get back in line.

My mail service is reaaaalllllyy slooooooww. It takes forever to get the simplest things from the closest places. I don't even post anything at my place, I post things from my office drop box. Oh, well.

MY DW wants me to cancel her PEOPLE magazine subscription. She looks for it every Saturday, but it often doesn't arrive until Monday . I peruse it for scantily clad women .....

Mail in my town is quick. I mailed my gas bill on Nov 14th and it cleared, yes cleared my bank on Nov 15th. The gas company probably uses the same bank as me but the bill got there overnight. I normally get packages, letters and cards from my MIL in CT in 3-4 days. As for people reading the addresses, our post office uses optical scanning machines and the only time an address is read by a worker if the machine can't read it because it so poorly written. I worked at the post office one year as an overhire for Christmas - you'd be amazed at how badly some folks address their packages. To help mail get there more quickly - hand print the address (instead of using cursive) in black ink.

Our postal service is really good. No complaints in my part of mid Michigan. Slow mail delivery is very frustrating.

My mail is slowwwwww, plus our mail delivery person (don't know if it is a male or female) is constantly putting the wrong things in our box. I can just imagine how much of our mail gets delivered to someone else. At least once a week we get a piece of mail that does not belong to us. It can take a week and a half, or more for an envelope from my mom in FL to reach me, and don't even ask about packages!

Local mail is very good here, but if it is going somewhere else it seems to take a while!
