How slow is bus transportation?

If I were to stay at Carribean Beach, how long would it take to bus over to MK, AK or MGM? Is it possible to walk to any of these parks in say 15 minutes or less?

Anybody stay here and decide to rent a car?

Or is it just easier to stay at Contemporary (my dream come true) and ride the monorail in?

I got thie off the Intercot website..I knew I saw the bus times somewhere..

Transportation:CBR

Bus: Bus transportation is available to all theme parks, water parks, and the Downtown Disney.

Approximate Duration:
MGM Studios -- 15 minutes
Epcot -- 10 minutes
Magic Kingdom -- 20 minutes
Animal Kingdom -- 20 minutes
Downtown Disney -- 25 minutes

It is impossible to walk to any of the parks except maybe the Contemp to the MK and even that would be a hike.

We were at CBR in November and those times are pretty accurate. One thing we did notice though is prepare to wait awhile if you leave the parks at closing, CBR has probably the longest lines.

On the bright side at least you are not waiting for a bus to get to work!

You can only take the monorail from the Contemporary to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. For Epcot you must transfer at the TTC by going down the ramp and up the other side.
Most bus service from the Disney resorts will take from 15-20 minutes door to door. The service is very reliable and flexible so that Disney dispatches additional buses as needed. The buses leave you the closest to the entrance of the parks, especially for the Magic Kingdom since you cannot park at the MK.
If you want the absolutely easiest resorts for the Studios and Epcot stay in the Epcot resort area. From the Beach/Yacht clubs, the Boardwalk or the Swan/Dolphin you can easily walk to Epcot in 5-10 minutes. The walk to the Studios is from 15-20 minutes. You can also take the Friendship boats from any Epcot resort to either Epcot or the Studios. The boats run all day but are slow because they stop at the three resort areas on their run between the two theme parks.

As Mary Anne said, walking is not an option from CBR, but you can also walk to Epcot and the Studios from YC, BC, BW, Swan, and Dolphin.

Don't worry about the buses, they work great. Sure, there will be blips, and it's not easy to stand and/or wait for a bus after a long day at the parks, but we have always used WDW transporatation and we have 95% good stories to tell.

Bob, you're right I was just thinking of the MK which is just about impossible to walk to. If you're staying in the Epcot area then it is very easy to walk to Epcot and the Studios. The Studios is about a 20 minute walk and Epcot I would say is about the same but you're coming into it Via the World showcase, and then it's about another 15 minutes or so to get to the front of the park for Futureworld.

Personally, I would never drive to MK from any of the hotels. After you park, you still have to go via Ticket and Transportation and that will add another 15 or 20 minutes onto your trip. Just take the bus from your hotel and you'll be better off.

This sounds like it might be an interesting morning or early afternoon excursion for my parents while I'm at DisneyQuest with my son. They would love a quiet, leisurely morning going between the Boardwalk and Epcot - I guess I didn't realize the Friendships went anywhere but the World Showcae Lagoon! Is it possible to board a Friendship or resort boat and travel around the waterways from the Boardwalk and into the World Showcase Lagoon without using a park admission? If not, would park admission be asked for at the International Gateway before proceeding into the Lagoon? Looking at an Epcot map of that area, I'm thinking perhaps you would have to change boats at the Gateway (Friendship to a resort boat or visa versa...)

Anyone with the answers? Thanks!

We walked to MK from the Contemporary, and it was a very short, very easy walk. It took us maybe 10 minutes, although we were strolling along and I didn't really time it.

As WDWgoofeeee said, the absolute easiest resorts for Epcot and MGM are the Epcot area resorts: YC/BC, BW, Swan and Dolphin. This is one of the many reasons I love staying at the S/D.

I am also a big fan of the WDW bus transportation. Even when we drive to WDW, we still uses the WDW buses because they are so reliable and convenient.

They are completely different boats. The Friendships on World Showcase just bounce back-and-forth in the lagoon.

To go to BW, Y&BC, S&D, and MGM Stu. from Epcot you just go OUT the Int'l. Gateway (get a HAND-STAMP) and you'll see the OTHER Friendship dock is right there (to the left).
Anyone can board the boats at no charge and ride to any destination on that loop.

If you want to get back into Epcot, (or into MGM Stu.) you'll need to show a proper ticket and hand-stamp.

We always have a car at WDW and we usually drive to AK, MGM and Epcot. If you arrive in the early morning you should be able to walk to those parks from your parking spot. The only park we don't ever drive to is the MK. What with having to transfer via ferry or monorail from the parking lot at the TTC to the entrance MK we just don't find driving to the Magic Kingdom convenient.

Are those stated times for when you actually get on the bus?

We used the bus system on Tuesday for park hopping. CSR -> MGM -> Animal Kingdom -> CSR. Each time we had to wait 25 minutes or so, plus another 5 minutes a couple of times for a change of drivers. After that we were done with the buses.
