How should I protect My Digital Camera? Which Otterbox?

I am buying an otterbox.com box for my digital camera.

My camera measures 3 1/4 " Long x 2.5" Wide x 1.5" Deep

It fits perfectly into the otterbox #8000, which is a hard plastic case w/ a belt
clip.

My QUESTION is: What should I do? Keep the camera INSIDE of my
current camera case and put BOTH into the Plastic Case?? IF SO, IT WILL NOT FIT inside this box!

Or

Is it OK to put the Camera inside by itself in the plastic case.

We are using this on rides like the Khali River Rapids ride and figured the current case will absorb shock better than the plastic case BUT there is a chance it could get wet!! HELP!!

After reviewing the Otterbox data, I really think you're going overboard with the purchase of the Otterbox. I'm sure it's a nice piece of kit and is water-resistant to 100 ft., but I think a large Ziploc bag is going to provide just as much protection from moisture as the Otterbox will do.

This is my plan for our January trip to WDW with a similarly planned ride on Kali River Rapids -- take digital camera in it's current Lowepro case and slide the entire thing into a large Ziploc bag. The camera-case will give it protection from jolts and bumps on the ride and the Ziploc bag will give the water-protection.

If I was going on a real river expedition, then the Otterbox might be the option. However, it doesn't really promise much protection. The warranty is for the Otterbox alone -- no implied guarantee of protection for whatever is in the Otterbox, plus it looks like something I wouldn't necessarily want to be carrying around all day for a few minutes of one ride.

There is a covered space in the middle of the raft where you can place your camera and case. In most cases, it should keep your camera dry - especially if you have placed it in a ziploc bag. Just remember to take it out in case any water does make it through.

A Ziplock bag inside a fanny pack will be all that you'd need to protect your camera. You're not going to submerse it on Kali.

I bought a backpack style camera bag at Target. It has padded insides with little slots for camera equipment. I put my camera in the center slot and use the other slots for the rest of our stuff. I keep ziplocs in the backpack to protect the camera on the water rides.

We have a Fuji Finepix F700 compact digital camera. I just bought a small camera bag from Walmart. It's more like a sleeve/pocket that has a flap w/velcro (so NOT waterproof by any means). It doesn't have a shoulder strap, just a belt loop so dh can wear it. It's made out nylon materieal with a little padding. I will also bring a small ziploc for if it rains or if we go on a water ride (or it can be thrown in a bigger bag). The best part, it cost all of 97 cents. In the past, we had a canon elph that dh wore on his belt (in a similar case) on several trips to WDW and we never had a problem with moisture.
