How should I book 10 seats on Southwest?

I'm ready to book our flights, but the problem is we are a party of 10 (actually 11 if you count the lap baby) and the website only lets you book up to 8. I want to book the web only fare for the entire party, but how will I know if there are 10 seats available on that flight for that price? The thing is, if there arent that many seats, I will book it on a different flight.... We all want to fly together. Is there any way I can check how many "web only" seats are available on Southwest BEFORE I book it??

I hope I didn't confuse anyone. LOL :rotfl:

You can check how many "Web Only" fares are available by trying to book a number of seats. For example, if you put "4" and the price remains the same as the "web only" fare, then there are at least 4. Add 1 until the price changes. You may have to split and put 4 on one confirmation and 6 on the other.

Hope I didn't confuse you. ;)

Since you can only book 8 at once, I would put 8 in and get that priced (but don't pay). Then open a 2nd browser and put in the other 2 and see if you get the same price. If you do, go ahead and book both and then you just have separate confirmation numbers.

If the others in your party are at a slightly higher "web only" rate, you will still be on the same flight and can sit wherever there are available seats.

I wanted to try to get the same price for all of us...

So, if I book it and the price for the "web only" fare is more than they are willing to pay.. can I cancel that flight, which will give me a credit (I think), and then rebook them on a different flight??

Sorry so many questions.:goodvibes

I'll second group sales. You're not willing to have different family members paying different fares. That means it's very unlikely you'd be able to take advantage of DING or other discounts.

No need to cancel the reservation, SWA allows you to change your reservation to a lower priced or entirely different flight without any fees.

Thanks everyone!! I think I know what to do now. I can always count on my fellow DISers to get the answers I need!!!!:lovestruc

Just thought I would let everyone know that, I did it! And I got the web only fare for the entire party.:banana:

I opened 2 Southwest windows and booked them one right after the other. No problem!! Thanks again to everyone who responded. :hippie:
