As we are getting closer to the time when we can make our ressies for the 3 night June 2004 Wonder, I have a question you may be able to answer. How do I reserve the rooms for this senario:
12 people total:
Mom + Daughter
Mom+ Daughter
Mom + Daughter
Mom + Grandmother + Daughter
Mom + Daughter+Daughter

We want to reserve the least number of rooms (3?) for the least $$$ possible.

If I reserve 3 cat 11's, that hold 4 each, some will be split up. That's not really a problem. Some cat 12's hold 3, which would be good for the mom+grandmother+daughter and mom+daughter+daughter. But then I would end up with an odd number that couldn't be all in thesame room, or else get 3 mom+daughter rooms. But that's 5 rooms. Should i jsut split up everyone?? And can I be assured that however we end upthat the rooms may be somewhat close to each other? Do the cat 11 or 12 have connecting rooms? Even a little down the hall would be ok, but not on seperate decks!

I'll try to help. :)

There are very few Cat. 12s and none are connecting, so if that is important to you I'd factor those out of your equation. There are also no connecting Cat. 11s, but there are more of those so your chances of getting them at least next to each other is pretty good. You'd have to go with a Cat. 10 minimum to get connecting staterooms.

I would go with:

Staterom #1 - 2 moms and 2 daughters
Stateroom #2 - Mom & daughter plus mom & daughter of the group that has the grandma
Stateroom #3 - Mom with 2 daughters plus the Grandma (if she is willing to go into a different room)

That will get you the best pricing as you have at least two adults in each room and the kids will be at the kid's pricing, not at the adult pricing.

Good luck! :)

Reserve the rooms exactly as described above to be the most cost effective. Once you are onboard, you can all decide where to actually sleep! DCL doesn't do a bedcheck so you have flexibility once you are on board.

Sounds like a fun crowd!

I would really try to get the secret porthole rooms! It shouldn't be a problem since you are booking so far out! I have pics of 5522/5524 on my website. These rooms are connecting. You can bungee cord the doors to stay open and it would be almost like one GRAND ROOM! You could try to book 5520 (non connector) with 5522/55224 connectors OR 5020 (non connector) with 5022/5024 connectors.
:D

I had not considered the porthole rooms because we are so budgeted. Is this something that DU could help with? I'm afraid that if I just go through Disney themselves they may not be that helpful about getting the most bang for our buck. thanks for the idea!!

Just for your information:

I went onto the Disney Cruise Site itself and crunched some numbers.
Since I cannot use June 2004 for a sailing date yet, I used a comparable date in June 2003 (it still showed early booking discount!)
For 4 people in cat 11, it comes to about $575 per person,
For 4 people in cat 10, it comes to about $600 per person.

That's about $25 per person more for the secret porthole rooms! So, the question is...
When I call and make the ressies, can I specificaly say:
I want rooms 5022, 5024 & 5020 ?? Will I be guarantted them? I'd hate to pay extra to get the girls the "view" and get there and no view!!

(Why oh why haven't I paid more attention to the "secret porthole rooms" threads??!!)

I would call Dreams and ask them to put a hold on the three rooms as soon as they begin taking ressie's for the date you are interested in --- rooms 5520/5522/5524. Once they begin taking ressie's and you receive your price info you would have 48 hours to decide if this is the way you want to go. Who knows -- maybe dreams will have a terrific rebate available that you could use to make up the difference between a cat #11 and cat#10. It is only about $100 per room difference in these two categories.

Let us know how you make out.
