We'll be at WDW for Thanksgiving and have been anxious to try Mission Space. 11 yr old DD isn't so sure; just how scary is this ride. I heard that some travelers felt sick to their stomach afterwards and felt like their skin was being pushed back on "liftoff" True or hype?

It's not 'scary' at all, but it's very intense. Some people do find they feel sick afterwards, but I also think some of it is hype. I'd read so much about people being sick that I was afraid to try it, but I promise you....no one was barfing in the wastebaskets when we got off the attraction.

I think now that people know to keep their eyes on the screens, their heads facing forward, and not to close their eyes, fewer people are having ill effects.

Make it the last thing you do that day (and not right after a meal) if you think that will be best. But do give it a try. It's really amazing. And no, it doesn't feel like your skin is being pushed back, it just feels like pressure on your whole body, but not in an uncomfortable way (at least, it wasn't uncomfortable to me). I thought it was great!.

Sorry, but I disagree w/the 'people getting sick' being a bunch of hype.

We were there last week, and, while true a great many people felt no symptoms at all, there are STILL some people who do. My 9-yo DD loved it the first time, but two days later she felt sick and didn't want to ride it again. Also, as soon as DH and her got off of the ride, we all three witnessed a mom throwing up in the trash can outside of the ride.

If you are prone to motion sickness, avoid it.;)

hi - we went on mission space a couple weeks ago - and it was really really intense - no motion sickness - but our legs were wobbly afterwards - it was my dh & my brother (both 41) my daughter (13) my son (11) and myself - we all didn't get to sit together - because it's only a group of four - so my husband & brother took my daughter & I took my son - it was the only ride that I really would have hit a panic button - but i started to breathe and then it was better - my only recommendation is that you keep your breathing in check & that of any child because it's so intense that you forget to breathe and that's when you get the "sick" feelings - at this time it's a once a trip ride - even when the line wasn't long we didn't go back - but we definately go on when we go again - and also - be careful when you get off - the ride was so incredible that we spent tons of money in the store at the end of the ride - the rush of the ride carried us over in the store -

so to make a long story short - it's worth it - but don't go alone - and remember to breathe

I wouldn't say it is scary at all but as the others said it does have some intense moments. It didn't make me sick at all but when I was there last week I walked by some people who were talking on a cell phone and they were telling the person on the other end that it made them sick and they hadn't felt right all day, so it does happen. I agree with the keeping your breathing regulated too. It's a good ride, I think everyone should do it at least once if at all possible. :)

:sunny: Is there any ride that is would be compariable to .. even if it's not Disney? Thx:sunny:
