I'm a ride wuss :rolleyes1. LOVE big thunder mountain, space mountain, dinosaur, star tours, etc but not a fan of expedition everest (have done it though) or rock n roller coaster because I hate the negative 'g' dropping feeling. I really wanna do this ride but do you think I'll be ok or will I hate it all? Also one of my friends gets a bit motion sick...think she'll cope?

Thanks

It's so hard to describe b/c it's not like anything else out there! My friend's husband said he didn't like it b/c he is scared of heights, but I don't think you're ever very far from the ground, although you might feel like you are. :confused3

It's definitely NOT a coaster, so I wouldn't compare it to Everest at all. It's much smoother than Dinosaur. The best thing I might compare it to iis a combination of Spiderman and Soarin', but even that's a stretch.

Sorry that's not much help! All I can say is that it's a really smooth ride...no drops or jerking around. Unless you're going to have a panic attack and need medication :rotfl: I'd definitely try it! It's an amazing ride, and you'll be missing out if you don't!

It sound like you will be fine. There is none of that "dropping" feeling.

There is no dropping feeling so you should be fine. It is a bit scary at times (attacking spiders and dementors), but if you are fine in Dinosaur you should be fine with this one, too. If your friend is prone to motion sickness she may have a bit of trouble. There is a strong sensation of "flying" and while the vehicles are smooth, there is a lot of all-around movement.

Does it also have a bit of ET? I really love the slow flying effect in ET.

I haven't been on ET in years and the ride was having techincal difficulties when we were there a few weeks ago, but I would say FJ's definitely has a "flying effect", but most of them were pretty fast! It's a very fast paced ride - I think it's one of those you really need to ride a few times to take it all in.

Thanks guys, you've made me feel much better about it and I'm looking forward to it now. :)

Is this a simulator or actually ride ? Or a combination?

It is a combination. The vehicles are mounted on robotic arms that move along a track, so you are continually moving. Along the way you will see a mixture of animatronics as well as simulated scenes as your vehicles moves you in and out and up and down and around the action.

I was a little nervous prior to going -- I tend to get motion sickness on some rides, however, I felt really comfortable with the way the ride strapped us in. Also, DS7 who is very nervous about fast rides LOVED it. I was totally amazed.

A few months ago I started a thread asking people to describe FJ. I think you will find it helpful.

DS7 is 49" tall and very skinny -- weighs about 54 pounds and he did fine on it. Saw lots of other people leaving the castle with their kids, so wondered if DS would want to opt out once we got up to the ride itself, but he was fine. He said he closed his eyes a couple times. I was nervous myself, but it was a blast!

I think you will like it :goodvibes. The ride is smooth and the dementors and spiders are so fake looking they aren't really scary. I didn't like the spider spitting in my face, but it's more annoying than anything.

How scary is it?
1. Take a look at my then-seven-year-old daughter's face from our first ride on it back in October (she's second from the right, I'm on the far right).

2. On the other hand, she was very quiet as we walked out of the ride when it was over. As soon as we crossed the threshhold and were outside again, she slowly turned to me and said (totally unprompted), "THAT. WAS. AWESOME!!!" :D
