How "safe" is the surrounding area?

It's relatively safe at night. We spend a few nights at Hojo and the walk to/from DLR was not bad - about 10-15 min. We typically returned to our room at 11:00 to 11:30 PM and there a number of people walking down the sidewalks. Just keep your eyes open and all should be okay.

Thank you! I know we're safe, but we were not 100% sure about if we would have to walk all the way around to the entrances or not.

If you are staying on Harbor, driving will actually make a bigger hassle for you. You'd have to go park at one of the parking lots, then take a tram to the drop off area. And the tram drop off is only about 5 minutes away from FFI, so you actually save yourself trouble by walking! I absolutely HATE driving and parking. Walking, ART or the hotel shuttle is much easier, at least for us.

If you want to visualize the walk, go to google maps and type in the Fairfield's address. When it comes up just drop the little guy on Harbor blvd. Make sure you're facing McD's and "walk" that way. When you get to the intersection, you'll be able to see the Disneyland sign over the sidewalk across the street.

Gogle maps won't take you on property but basically that is the place where all the shuttles drop off, from that sign maybe a 2 min walk down the length of the shuttle drop off area to the security tents. Go through security and your standing between DL and DCA.
