How rude is this?

I had a problem with meetings of one board because I was sort of a nonvoting adjunct member. I was supposed to be invited to general meetings and the head of the committee continually forgot. When I figured out he just wasn't going to remember, I asked another board member to keep me clued in.

I can't imagine leaving a church because one person doesn't notify effectively.

I am sorry I meant to tell that the Lovesmurfs, forgive me? I got the church dilemna mixed up!

Thanks so much. I've already mentioned my concern to the Pastor this morning. The master calendar is only as good as the people planning meetings putting the info on the calendar. There's no secretary....

Communication in any organization is SOOO important. We have a prayer chain which only goes to some of the congregation, and a whole segment of the population (those who aren't home during the day) is lost. I started an email chain, which is successful WHEN people remember to tell me to send something out......

It just bothers me. For three years prior to this, I didn't miss a meeting. Now I feel like some kind of sloth in missing meetings (and what do they say when I don't show up? My guess is that she doesn't say to the group that she didn't tell me). We've had some other issues with the church, but I've been reluctant to switch because the children are involved in the activities (and I'm heavily involved on committees, activities and teaching). I think the time has come -- you'd think with all of the "involvement" I'd know what's going on!

I'm also on another committee (nominations of a sort). We haven't had a meeting since March, and all of a sudden we HAD to meet -- they scheduled it for this Tuesday night, told me yesterday. I said that I had back to school night for my daughter's school and couldn't come, but that I could meet during the 30-minute meet and greet between the service and Sunday School, or after church. We wound up meeting today DURING Sunday School. When I protested that I didn't want to miss SS, the woman in charge said she had plans after church and couldn't stay.

Seem's that Christ didn't get nailed to the cross after all -- he was hung with red tape after a committee meeting.

Sorry to hijack the OP -- Just venting.

and I thought
Honestly, I would find another church with people that appreciate my gifts and talents even though it would be hard.

Oh, no, neither can I. It's just another straw.... We've been struggling with the church, politics and the fact that there are just very few people doing the work of many -- and it's the same story everywhere.

Thanks for your input.

Can anyone give me the total count of different subject matters in this thread?

Not invited to Neighborhood garage sale

Not invited to cul-e-sac parties

Illegal to have in home bizness

5 hour barking dogs

Church meetings

:lmao:

Actually with the exception of the barking dogs and the home business talk (part of which was actually pertinent to the conversation IMO), this thread has stayed very much on track. It is very hard when you feel you are being purposely left out. It doesn't matter if it's a party, a neighborhood garage sale, or a church meeting - the feelings are the same.

I really think you ought to find out why you are being excluded. I don't like the behavior of this group but something tells me there is more to this than the OP realizes.

Good luck!

 thanks for your advice everyone, I will definentally ask them more about it tomorrow.

Really? You didn't know it was illegal to have business stuff in a residental zoned area? I know you can run party plan type of business but if it's one where clients are coming & going at lots of different times, the city might have some problems with that (parking issues, increased traffic on a residential road, etc... a whole bunch of other issues that are usually looked at when making zoning decisions).

*bolding mine* This is what I was thinking about. I wasn't thinking about a bunch of cars coming in and out of the neighborhood all day. Duh on my part :)

Oh and BTW it is not illegal to have dogs barking, it is illegal to run a business in a residential neighborhood
FWIW they have been outside for 2 hours and I have yet to hear them bark, my other neighbors also have dogs and no complaints from them

Our township has a barking dog ordinance. The people up the street petitioned for it because the neighbor's dog would be locked outside and bark all the time, kind of like your dogs. The people who petitioned for it have a very well behaved dog.

You obviously have a problem with barking dogs, but the poster you are all over did not say her dogs bark all the time.

Thanks disykay , MOMof2inpa is just trying to :stir: . She obviously missed the part about my dogs not barking for 2 hours. I feel sorry for her to live a life without ever knowing the joy of being a dog owner
