How reliable are the park hours....

We are going, the last week of August '06 and currently, spectromagic is listed for every night. We were in the world, last year, the week prior and I know spectro was only several times/wk. When should I see more accurate hours? Also, MK is open, every night until 10:00, according to the currently posted hours. If memory serves me correctly, MK was open some nights until 9:00 last year. If hours are going to be posted, so early and they aren't reliable (yes, some tweaking is ok) , seems to defeat the purpose.

Disney usually does not "remove" posted events or "shorten" posted hours (although it CAN happen).
More commonly they "add" events or "lengthen" hours.

FWIW, the early-posted schedules are valuable for making the majority of your plans. If one or two things "change" as the actual weeks approach. You can make a small change if YOUR plans, if necessary.

The alternative would be to not know ANYTHING in advance... that would not be so nice.

I've never seen Disney reduce the number of operating hours once they've been posted except for events outside of their control such as severe weather (which affects, for example, the water parks.)

The hours have always been right on during our visits. With the exception of weather-related shutdowns.

Like the waterparks have been shutdown midday during storms, only to reopen later in the late afternoon.
