How quiet are the quiet pools?

Mainly at POR as that's where we're staying in August . Wondering how quiet do the kids have to be when playing in the quiet pools (during the day)? Are they mainly used by adults who would get annoyed if children were playing in there or are they just called quiet pools because there are no afternoon organised activities? I'm not talking about loud screaming etc. just general kids playing type noise :)

I'm not even sure 'quiet pools' is used outside of the DIS, I believe Disney calls them 'leisure pools'.

At any rate, there's no requirement for anyone to be quiet at any Disney resort pool. The quiet/leisure pools are called that to distinguish them from the main/feature pools at the resort, where you'll find the slides, activities, and usually the biggest crowds.

So fear not, happy kid noises are fine at any Disney resort pool :)

I prefer the quiet pools simply because they're not as crowded as the main pool areas. There have been loud children playing at every quiet pool I've been too (including my own). There are no noise restrictions at the quiet pools.

We used the quiet pool between Oak Manor and Parterre Place every day and we shared it with very small groups if any.

Nice and quiet. Don't know about the AB pools, because there are more larger families on that side.

We'll be finding out in April though! :thumbsup2

BTW, my DS and I will be passing the nerf football in the pool, and my niece and nephews will be diving for rings. If that bothers people, then they probably should be staying someplace else.

If you toss the nerf football from one end of the pool to the other end of the pool, the other guests would have a right to be bothered. If you are talking about tossing it in a small section, not over people's heads, you should be fine.

I've stayed on WDW enough times that I really don't need advice on how to act at the resort. We certainly don't infringe on any other people's space. If anything, we usually have other kids and parents looking to join in.

My point was that while it may be called a "quiet" pool, there will be kids and families playing in them.

Correct, "quiet pools" isn't really the correct term. They are leisure pools. It just means they have no lifeguards and scheduled activities.

Agree! We stayed at a resort last year (not Disney) where a group of 5 kids took over the entire pool with their Nerf baseball game. I got hit in the head with the thing twice and splashed more times than I can count. I was really irritated. I am not a kid or a parent and had no interest in "joining in".

As long as people respect other people, there should be no problem, quiet pool or not.

actually, while the smaller pools are open all night long, anyone, kids, teens or adults are required te be quiet after a certain time.. not sure of the time 10 pm, midnight?
I know the pop warner group at all star music one dec and a brazilian soccer group at all star sports one july were not considerate. finally at 1 AM I was able to get the manager to shut down the home run inn pool so we could sleep (this was after a soccer ball banged against our window at midnight)
but during the day, they are just called quiet because they are generally quieter than the feature pool.

We experienced this at All Star Sports too, fortunately our room wasn't right by the pool so we could escape it but it meant our children didn't want to go swimming at night (which they had enjoyed on previous nights) as it was just mad in there. Wondering if the rooms around the "quiet" pools at POR would be a bad choice now :confused3 i like my sleep :)

Not everyone cares to play football in the pool. Some people prefer to play with their family in other ways and not underneath the games of other guests. It's not your personal pool. All guests should be allowed to swim as they like just like you want to. There are no "first dibs" on the pool.

I have mostly found that the "quiet " pools are generally quieter than the main pool, because of the reduced number of people using it. ;) Thats not to say that I/we have not been bombarded with loud screaming kids throwing stuff by or over your head and/or jumping off the sides to splash those lounging/reading...or running and screaming pool side..(and we always stay AB side ...14/18 bldg)
Regardless of where you stay on property there are sometimes those families that believe their vacation somehow trumps yours and have no regard for others at all. Sadly, thats at any vacation destination.
We have brought nerfs/noodles (and leave them for others to enjoy) so we all expect some noise and families having some fun! Its vacation after all...:cool1:, its simply a matter of being considerate,,,,In our experience, its Quieter at the non official Quiet pools. :lmao:...at POR...Have A Wonderful Stay

We were at POR last May and used the pool next to Oak Manor almost daily. It was great. We have 2 small kids, 5&2 at the time and they loved it. Private pool would have almost been a better term. The most people we ever encountered at one time was maybe 6 or 8. Didn't have to worry about the kids getting lost in a big group of people. Although the main pool was very nice with the slide and all we stayed at the "quiet" pool most afternoons. Also, it is great if you need to do laundry. The laundry room is right there.

I think the poster you are somewhat "pouncing on" clearly stated they are not harming anyone nor bothering anyone, in fact they state as well as another poster that other guests choose to join in and have fun. Since I am not there and this is a forum, I am going to believe the poster and posters who bring pool toys or play games and let others join in are not doing any harm.

I've been in pools where guests quietly played with other nerfy pool delights and let people join in. There is nothing wrong with that. ;) Of course there are rude people, happens, but I don't think we need to call the pool police on the poster or posters who are a bit nerfy. ;)

And if someone throws something at your head or a soccer ball at your window at 1am, yeah pool police the heck out of that! :thumbsup2

I never said there was. I said I DO NOT infringe on the other guests. I said my family and I KNOW how to act at a resort. If you haven't been there when my family has, then you are commenting on something you know nothing about.

If you have a personal axe to grind, then PM me.

I would love to hear more experiences about how quiet these pools are late at night. It concerns me quite a bit how they are open 24 hours. Sure, a phone call can send someone out to quiet people down, but that is only AFTER you are rudely awakened. I'm wondering if I should steer clear of rooms overlooking these pools.

Usually, even the leisure pools, have hours posted on the signs at the pools. So if you are swimming at the pool after the posted pool hours, then you need to be quiet. If you are a guest who is staying near a leisure pool that is noisy after hours, just call to ask them to do something about the noise.

If you don't want the chance of being bothered by pool noise, don't book a pool view or water view room. Disney doesn't refer to them as quiet pools, so if you expect them to be quiet 24/7 you may have a problem. If you don't want to chance being woken up (not fun!) then stay away from pool view rooms.

People are allowed to play games in the pools, as long as they are not mowing anyone else over. If someone expects them to be as quiet as a library they are setting themselves up to be disappointed.

Sorry for using the incorrect term. I've seen them referred to as "quiet pools" throughout the boards so I just went with that. I certainly wouldn't expect them to be quiet 24/7, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that from say 11pm to 5am.
