how possible is beachclub?

I have not purchased yet but I will be soon. Just hoping for a sweeeter deal for AKV. I'm not planning to go til Sept 09 so I have time. we will be starting off small 100 at AKV for the first few years and will be adding on later. My question is this...how possible is it for beachclub res's during the value or dream season in a studio? I would like to be able to try all the diff resorts over the next few years and I thought going to the beach club in feb (not sure what year yet) to celebrate my daughters birthday. I have basically convinced DH and he's all on board because he likes the idea of the diff resorts as well and I think it will be a deal breaker if we can never stay there for 1 week (we're not resort hoppers). I will be adding on there I know once the time comes I just wanted to do it in stages. anybody?

I haven't gone in February, but we easily got Beach Club at the 7 month mark for our vacation this past July. (I made my calls in December, when you could still book day by day.)

Now, if it's the fall you want during Food and Wine I'd say it would be pretty darn difficult.

that makes me feel a little better. we just bought at the animal kingdom but i really dont care to stay there that much. we go in january and september when crowds are light so hopefully if we book right at the 7mon mark it wont be a problem.....its been on my mind since we bought im stressing that we wont be able to stay anywhere but animal kingdom. i want to stay at beach club or boardwalk and hopefully BLT in the future yay!!

Part of it is being lucky, we were able to get Beach Club for Food & Wine at the 5 month mark through a waitlist. So there's hope!

We own at SSR and booked a 1BR this year at BCV for the 2nd week of Sept right at the 7 month mark. 6 weeks later we needed to move the date up a week (due to a work conflict that arose) and it was not a problem. If you are looking to go during F&W I hear it will be difficult.

that's a bit of a relief... reading from these boards make you think BC is pretty impossible. I understand during F&W and Christmas not so much but other times at least there's hope. Thanks everyone

The first half of February is easier to get BCV at 7 months than the latter half. You may have trouble if you are planning on President's week - there are many northern schools that have that entire week off and thus getting one of the smaller resorts for that time at 7 months could be a problem. Call as soon as your window opens to have the best chance.

September is arguably the easiest month to book something at 7 months.

Have you stayed there yet? We also own there and LOVE IT!!!!! Like, i seriously can't emphasize it enough. We could stay anywhere next year, but we were so eager to stay at AKV again. I have a feeling that as much as we'll like to try out all the other resorts, it'll be a few years, since we have several trips in mind and they'll all be at AKV. (Did I mention how much I LOVE it there?)

Almost every time of the year will have some availability at the 7 month mark. So a few people will always "get lucky" - some of them post here and tell us about it. It always makes us feel good when they do, of course - especially if it's for the time the OP is interested in staying. (Usually we get "success" stories that really aren't relevant. Some months are easier to book at 7 months than others, and some unit types easier to get than others, so the "success post" isn't usually relevant to the OP's situation).

When the 7 month window opens, there are many members competing for any remaining availability at the smaller resorts. As DVC grows, the competition also increases and as members experience how hard it is to get BCV at 7 months for their preferred travel times, some of them buy BCV add ons and begin booking before the 7 month window opens. That means there will be even less space available at 7 months than before.

When you are talking about BCV, it's just a fact that there are many more members who are disappointed at 7 months than members who are successful. The odds of a particular member being able to successfully secure a reservation at one of the smaller resorts at 7 months are not very good. Some get lucky - most do not!

But, as DVC opens up more desireable resorts (like BLT), I think that will lessen the demand at some of the resorts like VWL and BCV. Oct at BCV and Dec at VWL will always be high demand due to the related events, but other times of the year might ease up...
