How Organized are you on vmk?

Maybe I'm too new to vmk to understand this, but why can't you trade

The more Stuff your VMK avatar is carrying in its "pockets" the slower the trade windows become as the boxes try to update, reconciling your inventory with that of your trade partner.

Eventually you get so many pins and clothing that when you open a trade window it won't update in a useable amount of time and you can't trade anymore. The boxes pop up and your VMK grinds to a halt, effectively freezing.



It's a sad affliction of the Rich. The Poor are mostly immune... but if you buy too much, someday you'll become an immovable bloated mass too. Let this be a warning to you!

I must be really clueless. I have been trying to get enough stuff to make maybe 15-20 fun guest rooms/rides. Once I get my rooms the way I want them I figure I'll give any excess away for fun or through a quest. But the point of amassing hoardes of pixelated items, just to have them sit there, doesn't make sense to me. I have 24 cookie benches and that makes me feel overwhelmed...LOL!

This isn't a criticism, at all...I just don't understand it. Especially when there are heaps of people who would be thrilled to use those things in building guest rooms for others to enjoy.

Holy. Organization? Wuzzat? I actually have to go down my rooms list.. one, by one, by one, by one to find what I need. Someone asks, "Hey, does anyone have a palm tree?" I say, "Yeah, let me go find it." Click! No, not there. Click! No, not there. This is repeated 5-10 times until I find what I'm looking for. By the time I come back with the item, the person has probably found someone else to lend them the whatever because they think I've gone and died in a hole.

I don't understand what you mean by yanked out from under you? Are you saying if you put all your furniture in rooms they can be taken but if you carry them everywhere on your person nobody can take them? I'm confused.

I am fairly organized. I have about 10 completed rooms (maybe closer to 20) and about 50 store rooms. Each it's own catagory.

What prompted all my hoarding was the fear they would take away the palm trees! I LOVE them and have some in just about all my completed rooms. So one day I bought like 50 of them... so if VMK ever pulled them, I would still have them to build with. Then I thought well gosh, what happens if VMK stopped selling this or that... things I like to build with... and BLAMO I became a hoarder

I have so many rooms, way too much stuff - now I organize by color.

As for each item, I purchase at least 15 of each new item. Well Disvaclub purchases, not that she holds them. I have two girl clones who holds a few pins and all of the clothes, but now have a girl dedicated to the certain pin series' (just easier to find that way. In addition, I have a boy who holds clothes.

The only pins that Disvaclub holds are ones that she can trade. As for her clothes, she likes to be styling, but still only carries a few extra on her for trades. So I have not experienced any trade lag at all.

I have to say, I knew I had an addicition to my vmk clothes (wish I was addicted to furnishing instead during beta), so I was organized from the beginning.

I love all the discussion on this thread.

As a quick note to those who wonder WHY some people hold on to so much stuff ... For me, it's because my favorite thing about VMK is building and designing guest rooms. (Before I became a VMK addict, I was a big fan of The Sims ... and I never cared if my Sims had a lot of friends as long as they built cool homes!)

VMK is constantly bringing out new guest rooms for us to work with and you never know what you might need/want to make those rooms look great. As others have said, there is also the constant fear that Disney will take away some piece of furniture that you really love. I personally was devastated when they removed the tiki rugs from the stores. I had used Tiki rugs in LOTS of rooms and found them to be so versatile. After that, I keep lots of everything on the theory that someday I'll need it.
