How old were your children on their first visit to Disney World?

My daughter was 18 months on her first trip and we all had a great trip. I agree with everyone that every age is different and so fun to see.

My eldest celebrated her first birthday at WDW and my other one was 8 months old at his first visit 😀 And now they are teenagers and sort of grew up with Disney visits... But for me the visits when they were small have the most cherished memories.

I absolutely love hearing about everyone’s first trip with their children or grandchildren! It makes me want to start planning today!!

My husband and I have recently become first time grandparents, and can’t wait to take our grandson to Disney! I am wondering at what age your children first visited Disney World. My children were 10 and 6 on our first visit. My niece was 3 and seemed to handle it well. I am just curious about others’ experiences.
Three was the perfect age for our son! No diapers, understands not to wander away and who to look for if he needs help. EPCOT was an amazing visit for him as he was already big into maps and geography. It started him on a lifetime of international travel!

My kids were all babies on their first trip. I’ve visited WDW every year since I was little and we’ve continued on visiting yearly with our kids. My parents always traveled with us and it was so nice to have them there to help out with the babies, and they were happy to do it. It would’ve been much more stressful without them there. With 5 kids, we’ve experienced Disney with kids of every age from 3 months old on up yo college aged. Our youngest is now 9 and it’s sad we’ll have to wait for grandkids to see Disney World through the eyes of a little one again.

Oldest was 4 years old, middle one was 2, and the youngest was 8 months. Just remember with little kids to take it slow, and if it is a hot day to plan on returning to the hotel/resort around noon for pool time or naps and to recharge. Unless this is a once in a lifetime trip, there is no need to be a park commando. Our girls now have experienced almost every ride at WDW, and we have started doing more of the shows and shopping now. They still enjoy the rides, but we don't do LL so if the lines are to long we just skip it till another time that it is a shorter wait.

My oldest had just turned 4, and my youngest was 16 months. I had an awesome side by side stroller . The feet could extend and the back could go down completely (each side could be adjusted independently. I do credit that with making the trip easier ….. naps were easy in the stroller . Also at least one resort that doesn’t need a bus made a difference. With young ones , I’d definitely go with a Magic kingdom resort …. We did wilderness lodge … stroller could be wheeled right onto the boat .

To WDW, they were 15 months and almost 7 years old. To DLR, they were 7 weeks and 9 months. We have great memories of all of it, even the 7 week old where we held her up around various places and took "selfies." :rotfl:

But my very favorite ages for each kid were just before they turned 3. They were tall enough to ride almost everything, they loved the magic and full of wonder, and they were free! :goodvibes

She was 6 and remembers nothing. She has vivid memories of our trip when she was 8 and all of them after that.

I personally wouldn’t want to deal with diapers and nursing, but to each his/her own.

We have been goin to Disney at least once a year since before we had kids. As a result each of our kids made their first trip before they were six months old (we are returning again this summer with all 3 of them now 20, 18, and 16). It is amazing how fast time passes!

I love this!!! The picture is precious!!

11 months and 10 months old, and they both have been going to WDW at least once a year, except for during COVID. Of course, they don't remember the things they experienced when there were younger, but those are the memories that my husband and I will treasure for the rest of our lives. I remember the first time my 10 months old son saw Wishes at the Dessert Party and his face just lid up and he cruised from one chair to the next to hug everyone in the family. I remember the first time my daughter said hi and wave to Mickey Mouse at Tusker House. The best HEA I ever experienced was at Bay Lake Tower parking lot. It was the first time they saw it after COVID. The kids know and remember every sequences of the show. So, they sang the finale at the top of their lungs, syncing perfectly with the fireworks. They were so happy and so proud how perfectly in-sync they were.

Now, we've progressed from having to ride the carousel 13 times in a row 10 years ago, to going on BTMR back-to-back-to-back instead. Still, we hold on to our tradition of either starting or ending our trip with IASW.

They are now a tween and a teenager, and I'm looking forward to experiencing how our WDW trip will progress as they grow even older. Sure, they may not join us every year once they go to college, but my husband and I can go back to strolling around the World Showcase Lagoon just the two of us like we did before they were born.
