How old were you when you had your first child?

I was 19 when I had dd.

I'm a big disappointment, lol. I'm 27 soon to be 28 and still no babies. More than likely I won't have any before I turn 29 either. Both Matt and I come from large extended familes and I'm the only one on my side with no babies and he is the oldest grandchild, out of 22, and his grandparents are upset that we haven't popped one out for them. I guess it doesn't matter about our circumstances or plans as long as the others are happy but if they aren't raising or pay then Im not popping one out until Im darn good and ready

To answer the poll ~ I'll be the one with the shocking answers:

35 y/o when I had my first ~ not planned & not ready, but happened.
42 y/o when I had my BIG SURPRISE ~ definitely not planned & still not ready but I don't think I ever will be!

Both pregnancies were very welcomed though. Oldest DS is 10 & surprise DS is 4.

Mishetta - not too shocking to me. I'm 35 years old and getting married next month. We are going to start trying to get pregnant right away. I don't feel 35 - let's hope my ovaries don't know it either.

Most of my friends with doctoral degrees are just starting to have children (or starting to try) so I actually don't feel strange about having children at this stage in my life.

I was 29 when I had my first DD, 31 when I had my 2nd DD and 34 when I had DS. It's a little chaotic here, DS just turned 1.

One of my goals was to be done having kids by the time I was 30 and I managed to accomplish that one

Isn't it funny how different people are? One of MY goals was to NOT have any kids until I was at least 30!

And, I was 30 when our little guy was born. We will probably try again in next two years, so I will be maybe 34 or so the next time if all goes according to plan. That's about average for my circle of friends. We are all in our early 30s and many are just having their first.
