when you took him/her to their first concert? 7DS would *love* to go to a concert this winter, and I'd love to take him, but wonder if he's old enough. Yes he's done Disney on Ice, Arthur on Stage, Xmas Carol, etc, but I'm talking *live music* here! Anyone? (Specifically, I'm looking at rock or country, but not a band that's going to inspire a lot of pot smoking, top lifting, beer drinking to excess in the crowd, I'm getting old, it's true!)

My sil took my dd to see the BackStreet Boys about a year and a half ago. She was 7 yo at the time. She LOVED it.:)

What kind of band does your ds like to listen to?:)

I took my then 5 yr old DD to see The Violent Femmes(it was outside) for her first concert. She's in 4th grade now, and has seen a lot more bands, but still has fond memories of that one.

We have season tickets for my 5 & 7 year olds to the Houston Symphony children's series. They love those! They've been to tons of live music performances, but never to a rock concert. So far, they've never expressed an interest, but depending on the group, I'd consider it.

I took my sister to see Aerosmith when she was 7. My daughter went on stage with Shane Minor at 6. I would say take him :)

Dh and I saw John Mellencamp summer of '01 and he did a wonderful show with all sorts of "world" type performers accompanying him. He's coming to a fairly small indoor venue near us in Nov, right near DS's 8th bday, and DS knows most of his music, so thought we might *drag* him along. We love live music, and would like him to enjoy it, too.
Thanks for all your suggestions. Anyone else?
Terri

I was pregnant with DS when I went to see Bon Jovi. Does that count?;)

DD has been to see Barney Live and Dragon Tales Live. She also attends the Children's Theater with my Dad every year. I am waiting till she is a little older before taking her to a concert venue. She is currently 5 I was thinking maybe 7.

I took Hunter to see the Beach boys when she was 6yo. She loved it! I had to wait until then only because they didn't come sooner. I would have taken her at a younger age w/o a second thought.
I saw them when I was 13. They were MY first concert also. :)

My kids have been going to concerts at outdoor venues since they were babies. They love music. :sunny: We get a big blanket, a picnic lunch or dinner, and the kids love it.

As far as an indoor concert, my kids have no interest as of yet, but when they are ready, I'll take them. Concerts were a huge part of my growing up years, and I hope they get the same enjoyment from them as I did.

My first concert was when I was 10, and my little sister's first real concert was *NSYNC when she was 7 1/2. She was SO excited, and since then has been to several more.

DS did "see" the Eagles H*** Freezes Over Concert in utero, also. Since it was the first time *I* got to see them live, it was special for both of us...
