How old was your child when . . .

Oh geez! You're still SO early!

DD started saying Dada at about 7 mos, sitting up at about 6 mos, and crawled at 10 months, (and she's still not walking @12.5mo, but talking up a storm.)

LOL, you're not on ivillage boards are you? Those women are SO competitive with their babies' achievements. :confused3 Those women made me cry!

Don't stress over it and enjoy your little one all you can! They grow up so fast :)

Hugs!!

I'm not competitive at all, I promise. Just being a silly nilly mom. DS IS a VERY happy baby - so you all are very right, that's all that matters. And thanks for reminding me of that.

No worries - your baby is perfectly normal!

My DS, now 7, sat up on his own at 4 1/2 months, started walking with assistance at 9 months (started running on his own at one year), but didn't say his first word until he was a year old. My ped told me not to worry - DS was off the charts as far as physical growth and abilities, so his little brain was focusing more on his physical capabilities rather than his vocal abilities, but that his brain was storing everything we said to him. When DS was 16 months, he went from almost non-verbal (with the exception of Dada, Mama, and milk) to the vocabulary of a two year old overnight. Quite a shock going from a quiet house to constant talking... :lmao:

Enjoy the baby days...I can't believe my baby is almost 8 now! *sniffle*

Don't worry....

I have a 2 year old and a 9 month old.

My two year old started babbling with mama and dadas at around 6ish months, my 9 month old has been doing it for a couple months now, so I guess around 7ish months.

Sitting - my 9 month old just started sitting well around 7.5 months, the doctor told me at his 6 month appointment (which is when he was sitting for a few seconds at a time) that it is normally between 7-8 months. My dd was also in the 7-8 month range as I have pics of her doing it around that time.

Crawling, my dd didn't crawl until late, but she was my chunky girl and rolled everywhere, not sure when that started. My ds, who is 9 months, started moving around at about 5.5 months, but it was more of a pulling thing he did, then at 6ish months he was army crawling, and then at around 8.5 months he started crawling the normal way.

At 5 1/2 months, just enjoy the happy sounds!

For my three, all of them started using words between 6 and 8 months. Sitting up unassisted was at 6-7 months. Crawling varied and little more #1 crawled at 7 months, #2 at 9 months and #3 at 10 months.

For the most part, kids will do their own thing on their own timetable without it really being any big deal.

Enjoy these non-mobile days!

Someone told me you can't wait from them to walk and talk and then you spend the next 17 years telling them to sit down and be quiet!:lmao:

Your baby is very little and he may not do those things really soon or not for quite awhile. Their are milestone guidelines and they are broad ranges for the first couple of years. Unless your peditician is worried about it, I wouldn't be.

It's really nice when you can lay them somewhere and they stay! When they start moving its a whole new ballgame and you will look back on these days with fondness!

See below my smiley for my DS1! That's how he is morning til night! I miss the days when I could just hold him for a long time!!
