Once overheard lady at Dumbos ride saying that adults and older couples should stay off these rides and let the kids ride. I've never been on it, but just might want to this trip. Any comments?

Hi lowkat, welcome to the DIS. I'm really glad you found us and I hope you enjoy planning your trip here.

I rode Dumbo last September and I'm....ummmmm....mature ;)

I won't stand in line for it but if there is no line I grab me a Dumbo and take off for the clouds. Hey! You have to be open to the magic and that's magical for me :)

I think any age is fine as long as you have the stamina to wait in line and then climb in.

Many, many years ago I read a biography of Walt Disney that was written by his daughter, Diane. She said that his idea for Disneyland came because he used to take them to the park on Sunday and had to sit and watch them on the rides which were built only for children. He thought there should be someplace that the ENTIRE family could go to enjoy the attractions together.

Dumbo is certainly built to accomodate adults!

I will let you know when I get too old. :p

Dumbo holds a special place in my heart because when I was a kid that was THE ride I wanted to go on. When I imagined going to WDW I imagined a ride on Dumbo. Well I never got to go as a child so when DH and I went for the first time in December 1999 as a belated honeymoon you can better believe that no one was going to stop me from getting my Dumbo flight. I was 24 at the time and I stood in line by myself for 30 minutes for my ride. DH has the whole thing on video and lots of pictures for me. It was one of the best rides I have had anywhere and I dare anyone who wants to say that I was too old to ride!!! :) :p

As long as you're still breathing, you can ride Dumbo!:D

I beleive a park ticket entitles you to ride whatever you want! You actually pay more to get into MK than the little ones, right?

Ride Dumbo - then pick out the prettiest horse on the Carousel and go for a spin!

I think that old lady should get the "official termagant of WDW" award. Forget her!

Too old? NEVER!!!!

I took my DW to WDW before we were married and she rode Dumb for the first time in her 40's. We grew up watching Walt on tv and dumbo was the ride they always showed. She said she never rode it and wanted to. Dumbo is a must do for both of us each time. That lady just doesn't get it. Her lost. Have a great and magical time riding Dumbo. Last Dec we met other DISers at WDW and the whole Dumbo ride except maybe 2 of them was all adults with great big smiles on our faces riding Dumbo.

Thanks to all - you made me smile:D and laugh. So Dumbo here we come and maybe even the carousel.

P.S. Peter Pan is my "idol" I'm NEVER growing up!

I'm 20something++++ give or take! I still have yet to ride Dumbo but one of these days I will be down there when there is no line up!:teeth:

I will never forget the first time I rode the Peter Pan ride!WOW!
And that was only two years ago! This is what Walt wanted, for adults to have an opportunity to be a kid again!

And to that old biddy who made the comment.....

THTHTHTHTHTHTHTHTHTH!(raspberry!)

Like my DD says, I love going to Disney, 'cause Mom your a big kid! and we have fun!

Life is too short

PS You'll also enjoy the Carousel!

Ride away!

Scratch

:smooth:

I rode Dumbo, the Carousel and Aladdin for the first time during my May trip. There's not a ride at WDW that I classify as just for adults or just for children unless Disney says it's so.

I'm 50 something and I hope I never get too old to enjoy the attactions at WDW!

My grandparents have never ridden because they feel silly now...and before they felt silly they refused to wait in the line. BUT they do ride Aladdin provided the line isn't long, so I think Dumbo's totally a line issue too. These rides are fun, but we never care too much if we have to miss them...if you know what I mean.

I'm almost 40 and I turn into a kid everytime I step foot inside a Disney park. The complaining woman probably got up on the wrong side of the bed and was looking for anything to complain about. Then again there are actually people out there who look on Disney as being "for the kids". Never actually met one though. Hopefully they are an endangered species.

All I can say is that in this house the 40-something adults enjoy ALL the attractions and rides at WDW more than the under-18 crowd - HA!

Many years ago (pre-gambling) my family would vacation in Atlantic City.

One day we're at the carosel and Granma goes for a spin. What made us laugh was the next ride. The carosel was full of elderly people!! Apparently, quite a few people had noticed Granma and thought "What the heck?".

It must be over 25yrs ago and we still talk about that.:p

We also have video of her trying to ice skate at 60 plus years.

She's been gone over a decade now. Life is too short.
