How old for a child to eat pretzels?

I know this is a dumb question, but my DD is 20 months, and I'm still worried about letting her try potato chips or pretzels, thinking she could choke on them. How old are kids usually when they can start eating this stuff?

I've always broken pretzels into small pieces. I give them to the little ones starting about 10 months -- depending on how well they do with table food.

By the way, I hear our president still has a problem with pretzels....and he's how old?

My daughter is 22 months and she's been eating them for months now, I would say at least from when she was 14 months of so. It's basically impossible for us to give our son anything without giving them to her also.

Our DD was about 16 mo when she started with the mini pretzels. I didn't give her the rods or nuggets until about 6 months ago. Of course she only got them when sitting at the table. I think some choking happens because kids are playing while eating.

Your question reminded me of a time I was at a play date with DD a while ago. One little girl who was about 3 had broken her arm and it was in a cast. At one point she asked her mom for a pretzel rod and proceeded to climb on the playground equipment with the pretzel rod hanging out of her mouth so she could use her good arm. This all happened as her mom sat at the picnic table barely watching. All I could think at the time was that I wasn't surprised this kid had a broken arm based on the supervision she got.
