How often do you weigh?

I've been weighing at home every morning, and DH says I should space it out a little more. So far I've had a loss each morning, and I just can't seem to keep off those scales after I get up! So how often do you (or should I) weigh?

It kind of depends on you. :) I think it's fine to weigh every day IF you don't let it get you down when you see a gain.

Even when I'm losing well, it's very normal for my weight to go up and down day to day. If I have more salt than usual I know my weight will be up the next day. Ditto during TOM and after more strenuous exercise than usual.

If you see a slight gain, freak out, and then go on an eating binge, than I wouldn't weigh more than once a week.

I'm dreading this week (TOM), and I'm sure I'll have a gain. At least I've always had one at that time when I haven't been dieting. So maybe I should weigh tomorrow a.m., then wait til next week (if I can make it that long). You're right Lisa, I probably would freak and blow my diet out of the water!

I weigh every day but it doesn't "count" until Saturday- that's the day's weight I use for my weekly check-in here. So if I go up during the week, I know I've got until Saturday to get things under control.

I weigh in on Sunday mornings for the WISH check in thread, and then again on Wednesdays for the Spring Challenge check in. That works well for me, it gives me an idea of how I am doing about half way through the week, although if I am honestly on plan (which I have been since 1/5) I know that I am doing fine, even if I have a temporary water weight gain. (None yet, but am expecting it this week due to TOM). Two times a week is enough for me. I have even thought of doing less often, like once every two weeks or so. Perhaps when I get closer to my goal.

I weight every morning also. If I lose I get really excited and if I don't lose/gain, it makes me more motivated to keep at it!

I've been doing the same thing. On Mondays I record my weight and measurements.

I'm not looking forward to getting on the scale in the morning. Yesterday was my birthday and ate plenty of things that I should not have. :(

HI..... to be honest, I weigh myself everyday! I know I know......lots of people will say not a good thing but, I use it as a positive tool. If scale is not going down I just work harder. For me its a daily reminder of my crusade. I think it depends on how you look at it and how you accept the information you recieve from the scale.Just my 2 cents.

When I first started to lose weight, I would weigh myself each day, it got to be obsessive. Lately I weigh myself on Fridays for the Valentine's day challenge and Monday is my offical weigh in day for my weekly wieght loss.
It really does take a lot of will power for me to stay away from the scale.

I weigh myself each week on the same day...Tuesday morning! :)

I weigh myself once a week on Wed. morning. I find that this is enough for me. I am trying not to obssess about my weight loss and just make it a part of the rest of my life. I know that if I stay OP and exercise that I am going to lose. If it wasn't for the WISH check in every week, I would probably only weigh myself once a month. However, my feeling is that each individual has to do what is right for them. If it helps to weigh yourself every day then that is what you should do. Whatever works ::yes::

I know you aren't supposed to weigh every day because your bodies weight changes based on what you have eaten, water intake and salt intake. Really you should only weigh once a week. When I lost the bulk of the weight (to date) I was weighing 2-3 times a week. Now I am an every day weigher and the reason I do this is to keep myself in check. Right or wrong it is what I do, however, I usually on log in what the scale says on two days, Tuesday because it is my official weigh in day and now Friday because I am participating in the Valentine's Day challenge and that is the day of the week I began.

I used to weigh 1-2 times a week. But this year, I decided to try another tactic and not be so hard on myself after seeing the frequent numbers. So far, I've only weighed myself twice this year. The second weigh-in was down 5-1/2 pounds from the first one. I'm much happier seeing that result than the yo-yo numbers. I don't need to weigh myself daily or weekly to know that I still have some more weight to go. If I stay on plan (and I have all year) and exercise faithfully (and I have all year) then there's no need to check in obsessively for me. I'd much rather see the big dramatic drop than the little moves up and down.

It works for me, but I certainly can understand how it wouldn't work for everyone!

I'm really bad. I weigh myself everytime I go into the bathroom with the scale. So it can be a least 3 times a day. Which I know is a little obsessive, but I was one who didn't step onto a scale unless I had to a the Dr's office. I don't count a weight loss unless I see I'm the same weight 2 days in a row. My official day is Monday and I use that weight to see where I am over all.

Since I am new to WW, I have been weighing in every morning to try & keep track of what is working/not working well for me on my new eating plan. I only count my ups/downs on one "weigh-in" day per week. Once I get used to my eating plan & exercising more frequently, I am hoping to only weigh-in once a week. :D
