I am kind of embarrassed to say...because apparently it is NOT as often as "the norm."

Talking with a group of women, and they were complaining about having to do laundry so often. Turns out they wash their bath towels every 2-3 days, and all the bedsheets in the house once a week. Not just "theirs" but also the kids towels and sheets, too.

I wash my bath towels once a week (I hang them to dry after I use them) and my sheets *gulp* once a month. I have a hubby and a chihuahua in bed with me, too! I may even wash my DD's sheets even less often. I will admit that.

Of course no one here knows me in real life, so you don't know that I keep my house neat, I have great personal hygiene etc. So if you wash this stuff more often, please don't judge me! My friends were surprised when I told them...of course I wonder if some of them aren't fudging their numbers a wee bit.:teacher:

Curious to hear the sheet/towel washing stats of the DISers!:thumbsup2

There have been so many threads about this here on the DIS. Apparently lot of people wash their towels after every use. I had no idea.

I wash towels about once a week and sheets about every 3 weeks or so. I cannot imagine the water I would go through washing them more often:eek:

oh, whoops, sorry, I had not seen any of the threads! Guess I should have searched the words "sheets" and "towels."

my sheets are washed once a week, bath towels after 2 uses. I change DD's sheets every other week though because they have bunk beds and they're a pain in the butt to change

I change out our bath towels once a week, too. Sometimes I'll change them out more often if there's high humidity. But bedsheets? I think I change DS's more than I do my own! :lmao:

I've had friends who just lump their used, wet towels in a heap on the bathroom floor. :crazy2: Can you say mildew?

Our towels go into the hamper typically after the 2nd or 3rd use and the bedsheets typically get washed every week. For the past few weeks, however, the bedsheets have been changed at least twice a week because the heat is making us sweat more during the night and I'd prefer to have cleaner sheets more often during this time. Once we get the air fixed, I'll go back to changing the sheets once a week.

Because it's just the two of us, I can typically wash the "whites" (towels and sheets) in one or two loads. If we waited to change our towels every week instead of every 2 or 3 days, I wouldn't have enough towels saved up for a load until three weeks out. I don't want used towels sitting around that long waiting to be washed. With our current heat wave/no air conditioner issue, I'm doing whites about every five days now.

Every use is a clean towel for us and we wash sheets once a week.

Oh I was not complaining--only commenting:flower3:

I forgot to say that I do now wash DD's bedding twice a week. She has been having asthma problems and tested as allergic to dust mites--so we wash her stuff on hot lots to kill the little mites--but just hers and only for that reason.

Can I send my children to live with this family? They will fit right in. ;):headache:

I try to change my sheets bi-weekly. My DD17 usually changes hers once a month. DD11 needs hers changed weekly.

I have no problem using towels for a week, but my girls just dump theirs on the floor and refuse to reuse them.

In the summer I wash the bed sheets once a week, in the cooler temps/winter I do it every other week.

Bath towels go in the wash once a week, maybe twice. Depending on the use, more often in the summer then in the winter.

Our towels are used only once and sheets are washed every couple weeks.

Both towels and sheets are washed once a week in our house.:laundy:

Towels and sheets are washed once a week at our house.

Towels are used 2 - 3 times for each of us. Sheets - I try and do them weekly....sometimes it stretches to 2 weeks. Pillow cases are washed a LOT more often, though. I live with droolers/sweaty heads...

I wash towels once or twice a week, but I'll often wash just two or three with socks/underwear/pjs. We reuse them about 3-4 times.

I change sheets when I feel like it-- every 3-4 weeks in the winter, more often in the summer. We all bathe right before bed. If we got into bed dirty, I could see where I would need to change them every few days.

My mother was horrified when I told her that I often don't wash all the sheets every week (she does hers twice a week). I told her to just buy a bottle of Febreze and save herself the stress. :rotfl:

Towels get washed every 1-3 uses, hung up after every use. Sheets, maybe 2x a month?

We only use our towels once before washing them. We have enough that we don't have to wash them except once a week.

I try to wash my sheets once a week. Doesn't always happen, though. I actually need to do it more often as I tend to sweat a lot when I sleep.

Everyone is different. Some need to wash things more often than other people. As long as no one is telling (or making it obvious) you stink, then I'd say you're ok.
