How often do you try a new recipe?

I had a cook-fest today:goodvibes I was in the mood to cook and DS10 was home sick, so I had to stay home too. I tried a new chicken noodle soup recipe, it was ok. I got ingredients ready to make two new recipes tomorrow. I also made a favorite muffin recipe and baked chicken in salsa to shred for tacos/enchiladas/etc. My version of Once-a-month cooking;)

Anyway....I try a new recipe about once every two weeks and sometimes more frequently than that. How about you?

Katy

I try one every two weeks or so just like you. Today I made the Cheddar Cheese Soup from Canada and last weekend I made a Mexican Meatzza Pizza from Rachel Ray's 30 minute meals. It was awesome.

I am 19, and I am actually still living at home and don't cook frequently. But I'm getting married in January and DF and I have decided that once a week we will try something new. We have ALOT of cookbooks given to us and some we bought (including a WDW one :) ), we are going to pick out one recipe and a dessert and make that together and let it be our "date night" each week.

We try a new recipe about once per week. I try to get at least one new recipe during each grocery trip.

I try to try out at least one new recipe per week. I love to experiment and now that we're essentially empty nesters (one still in college, so he makes occasional "guest appearances" ;) ), we can try new types of food that we couldn't when we had kids at home.

Sometimes the whole meal will be of new recipes; other times just one dish, depending on how much time I have.

We've had some real winners, which will definitely be added to the recipe collection. We won't talk about the ones that didn't do so well.... :sad2:

When I get something in my veg box that I don't know what to do with, I generally have a look for something inspirational. Of course, you have to know what it is :rotfl: I love to try recipes I see on here, but we don't have all the convenience things you do (or if we do i don't buy them) - often Dh decides it makes too much washing up to make again (like the Cracker Barrel chicken and dumplings - lovely comfort food but a lot of work:scared1: ) - he particularly hates fish pie because he doesn't believe it justifies the work (but I love it :thumbsup2 )

I'll often make something different over a weekend, but its difficult with work in the week - especially as Dh works shifts. But sometimes I use that to make something up just for me :thumbsup2 Tonight: easy ways with baby spinaach! :goodvibes

I have just recently started cooking again after taking a 6yr hiatus (sp?) and am new recipe crazy. Ive been searching the web daily for new and interestnig things and got two cookbooks last weekend. On average the past month I have tried about 3 new recipes a week and 1 dish I just create myself. I'm sure this will calm down some but right now I'm loving cooking new stuff and my DBF is more than happy to gobble it up.

I love the bbcgoodfood recipe site, as it has all the recipes from BBC magazines, and lovely pictures :thumbsup2

I checked the site out and it has a beautiful looking minestrone on the home page and the recipe sounds great. Thanks.

I think I am rebelling from a childhood where my mom made the same 10 things in a rotation, but I try new recipes all the time. Normally in a week, I'll try maybe four or five new things. If there is something the family really likes, I'll probably make it once a month, maybe twice a month at most. It's so bad the kids will sit down to dinner, sigh, and say "Have we ever had this before?" I'm probably making sure they are going to end up like my mother and eat the same 10 things over and over. :rotfl:

That's so funny! I had a friend that always said, "Adults like a variety at dinner but kids just want to see their old favorites."
