I'll preface by saying that I was raised Catholic, and have always believed in God, and have always been a relatively faithful person. I'm just not a big fan of organized religion. I don't attend church on a regular basis, but I do worship God in my own way.
I've found lately that I'm talking to God more and more often. I'm not sure if it's simply that I'm getting older and learning not to take certain things for granted or what. I've always said a little prayer of some sort right before drifting off to sleep, but I find myself waking up and thinking of all of the things that I have to be thankful for that day. Then sometimes on my long, somewhat scenic drive to work, I'll look around at God's creations and pause to thank him for the beautiful sun coming up over the horizon, or the wonderful way that the ice forms on the river on a bitter cold morning. Or the color of the leaves in the fall.
You know the old addage, "Stop and smell the roses"...Well it's like I've made a game out of it. Every morning on my way to work, I try to find at least ONE beautiful thing to thank God for. It's a really great way to start the day, and it puts things into perspective.

), but for the absolute wonder that is a child. For the love God shows for us in giving us children. It has opened my eyes and made me consider all the blessings and wonder around me.
