How Often Do You Replace Your Dishes?

Just received a new set this past Christmas. I loved my old set, they lasted 15 years, but the last year was rough one for them. 4 of my big dinner plates broke.

I like the heavier stoneware, and opted for a new color. I am happy with them, but I will admit I did keep the bowls from my other set. Dishes for me are all about the bowls.

The new bowls are very nice, but they are HUGE! You add a couple of ladles of soup and it looks like a tiny portion. Very deceptive and easy to overindulge.

I'm still using the Pfaltzgraf dishes I received for our wedding shower in 1996. I have had to replace a few bowls and one of the plates has a chip, but otherwise, they're all in great condition.

My flatware that I received for our wedding shower was inexpensive and I donated it to Goodwill and bought a sturdier set off of QVC about 5 years ago. Strangely, some of the forks and spoons have gone missing. They never leave the house, so I have no idea what has happened to them.

Once we lost enough dishes through breakage that we couldn't have matching plates for everyone at Thanksgiving is when we replaced them. Married 23 1/2 years, I think we are on our second set of dishes? They are plain Corelle. Plus plain white. I think we might be on our third set of flatware. Those seem to disappear easily.
