How often do you remember the dreams you had while sleeping?

I rarely do. But earlier this week, I woke from having a rare bad dream. In the dream, I killed someone. The next morning, my wife mentioned that she also had a bad dream. I said that it wasn't as bad as mine where I killed someone. She said that, in her dream, she also killed someone. Weird......

Too often. I wish they would invent a pill that let's one sleep dream free. They are exhausting.

I remember them when I awake, but most don’t seem to stay with me long.

Same for me. Although last night I dreamed I was trying to get out of a house somewhere but every time I found a door that led to the outside the ground was covered in barbed wire…and I didn’t have shoes😲. That one might stay with me awhile.

Yes there a few memorable ones that have stayed with me for decades now. So far none have involved barbed wire. But there is always tonight!

I remember every night. It's very vivid when I wake up in the middle of the night and fades as the day goes on. I thought everyone was like that until I started giving my husband a detailed description of several dreams when I woke up in the morning and he told me he never remembers dreaming. I was like.....what????? I feel like night time is the second part of my life, like a second part of me. I can't imagine going to sleep and just getting 8 hours and waking up, I wake throughout the night and lay there thinking about my dreams. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. Sometimes I have multiple days of dreams that continue and I definitely have reoccuring dreams that date back 20 - 30 years.

Sometimes I wake up in a weird mood and I’m not sure why until I have a little flashback to a strange dream I had overnight. Some dreams are very vivid and I remember them. They say it’s good to keep a notebook by your bed and jot them down when you wake up. I’ve never done it but my DD does. I also sometimes have night terrors, but they’re not as bad as they were during a particularly hormonal time when I had them frequently, and would wake up screaming.😨

There can also be ‘visitation dreams’ where supposedly loved ones who’ve passed have an opportunity to connect with our energy during a dream state and take advantage of it. Those ones are supposed to be very memorable. I have a few.

We have had something similar happen - but just the opposite. (I don’t even want to say it!)

Extremely rarely. Generally only remember dreams about needing to use the bathroom, where I of course wake up and really do need to use the bathroom.

My assumption is that the majority of my dreams are so disturbing that my unconscious mind is protecting my conscious mind from seeing my dreams.

I can only remember one single dream from when I was younger. We were under attack by dinosaurs and a VW bug arrived and clowns started pouring out. No way you could fit this many clowns in a fleet of school busses let alone a VW bug. They defeated the dinosaurs.

How can anyone possibly know the answer to this question? Nobody has any idea on how many dreams they forget.

I remember dreams all the time. I'm on several psychiatric medications, and one of the side effects is very vivid dreams. My dreams have touch, smells, all sorts of sensations. I'll wake up from one and it was so real and immersive I have to lay there for a minute to get my bearings.

My wife and kids wake up almost every morning remembering at least one dream.

I wake up almost every morning with no idea if I even dreamed.

The question can be answered to some degree for sure.

But they may have had thousands of dreams.

One of my recent nightmares which was complete nonsense was forgetting that I had planned a Disney vacation. I showed up at the office and then remembered I was supposed to catch a plane in a hour.

Very rarely for me. Maybe once a year? My Dad, though, he remembers his dreams all the time and in vivid detail. They're often about his deceased parents and others are often about things very upsetting to him - like he can't bring himself to talk about what it was about.
