I have been told I mop my floors too often (hardwood floors). Perhaps I do. I do not like to wear shoes in the house thus want my floors to be clean. How often do most folks mop their floors?

I have a Kirby and it gets everything off the hardwood just vaccuuming. No scratches at all. In the summer, when I don't deal with slush and mud..maybe every 6 weeks I do a whole house floor scrubbing? In the kitchen area, about every 3 days or so. I vaccuum the hardwood floors daily.

In the winter, with the slush and the mud, I am washing the floors about every ten days or so. And still doing a lot of spot cleaning.

I have WHITE LINOLEUM floors in my kitchen/dining area. In order to have any chance at keeping them presentable, I mop everyday to every other day. (MY DH got me the Swiffer Wet Jet and that's made things so much easier.)

With the kids in and out constantly, those floors would be black with ground in dirt if I didn't stay on top of things.

We have tile in our kitchen and hardwood in the other living areas. Kitchen, every other day it gets mopped....hardwood gets vaccumed or swept once a week, probably mopped every 2-3 weeks.

I don't "mop".. I wash my floors on my hands and knees - once a week..

There you go again ... showing the rest of us up!

I mop my kitchen floor once a week and my hardwood floors a few times a year ... so maybe once every 2 months? I mop more often in the winter when it's slushy and snowy. We have carpets on the hardwood which get vacuumed a couple times a week.

 I am supposed to MOP???????
Yeah, what's a mop? :confused3

Didn't you mention a few months ago you had an energy & anxiety problem that you got some great behavioral therapy for? Maybe if you simply stop washing the floor, you'd have more energy. If you use that time to sit back & sip a refreshing lemonaid instead, your anxiety would go away too. :drinking1 ;)

I wash my floors on my hands and knees everything three weeks :lmao:

I however vacuum at least twice weekly, I don't have any kids though. I do a spot clean if necessay in between

Cleaning is actually something I enjoy doing..:) I have less energy when I do "nothing" than if I do "something".. (Actually, in terms of the therapy, one of the principles is getting up and moving around - not sitting idle..;)) But getting back to the cleaning, I've always washed floors on my hands and knees - nothing new there - LOL..:rotfl:

I read to relax now - usually a book a day.. But I still make sure that I get up and move around to do various chores; drive out to the General Store; walk down to the mailbox; etc. - or I might as well throw everything I learned in therapy right out the window - LOL..:goodvibes

Eh.."old lady" here and old habits die hard.. LOL

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I have that "Old Lady" habit too!

I get rid of nervous energy but scrubbing, when I cleaned homes a few of my customers asked if I could change their day to any day that I was irritated with my DH :lmao:. Seriously, people deal with anxiety in different ways, I also need to work it out physically and then I always feel like I channeled it in a positive direction.

I am one of those hands and knees cleaners. I vacuum almost every day and will wipe clean my common areas at least every other day. I have wood throughout the house except in my entry way, my kitchen and the bathroom. I wash the kitchen and bathroom floors several times a week. The bedrooms every other week.

Never! My apartment does not have 1 inch of moppable floor. It's all carpet. Indoor/outdoor in the kitchen and bathrooms. That said I have carpet cleaner machine that I bust out about once every 2 months. Vacuum about once a week, depending on the level of dirtiness.

rats...this thread reminded me. better get going with the house work. i used to be a complete cleanaholic. thank goodness those days are gone. now, i clean house much less than i used to.

when the kids were little, crawly, toddley things, i was always washing/cleaning/mopping.....

now they are teens, a MUCH different type of kid. less cleaning needed.

I vacuum carpets once per week.

I also vacuum the wood floors with the beater bar switched off

I probably push a damp washleather across the wooden floors maybe one per month.

In between I may do spot cleaning with spray and cloth.

I shampoo the carpets with a soil extraction machine once per year.

We don't wear shoes in the house, but not every visitor we have will remove shoes and so I have to spot spray sometimes.

We have no pets and two sons. 16 and 18yo

ps. yes I am a man
